Isn't it odd that the government is pointing guns at people who try to take care of themselves and their neighbors? This is a serious issue and everyone needs to be very alarmed by this. The government can't be trusted with the products that they endorse. We have fruits and vegetables in the grocery stores from who knows where. We don't know for sure what has been put on this food, and they have the nerve to go blasting into a private citizen's home!! !The FDA has had serious problems for the past 20 years, and they don't even know where the pharmaceuticals foreign manufacturers are located. There are countriies importing dangerous lethal pharmaceuticals into our country that the FDA hasn't even visited the plant before they allowed them to be sold. They are using the pharmacuetical companies that produce the new drugs to do the testing for them, and we are suppose to be O.K. with this. We should be the ones pointing guns at them for the gross mishandling of our foods and drugs. It will take an outcry of thousands, and I have been patiently waiting for many years for the day when the public finally has had enough. All that the congress does when something serious happens is that they call in the FDA to a meeting, slap their hands, and send them back to proceed as usual. And because no one is watching CSpan in the middle of the day when these hearings occur, the public stays silent about the obsensity that goes on. Then, the congress does little because, no one knows the real story.

Firget about fighting for democracry overseas you guys in the USA have lost and are losing more at home.

Remember your most powerful vote is how and with whom you spend your next dollar. This power can bring dwon the big corporations.

You also need a PBS scheme like we have in Australia for drugs. Everyday people without insurance gte subsidised on prescribed drugs in Austrlia and lots more for pensioners. Since our government pays out and are such alarge cliient thye rightfully screw the Big Pharma companies.

I'm sorry but I'm quite frankly sick and tired of hearing Americans complain about their Gov't and doing nothing about it. You are a gutless bunch of sheep. I'm a Canadian and I will tell you exactly how to change this. You have formed a food co-op so why stop there? form a political co-op, not R OR D! call yourselves Libertarians or something anything but status quo. You start by insisting every elected official sign a document up holding the Constitution, State and Federal and include a statement that allows any official to be recalled. I know they will complain about how this will result in chaos, well you either take responsibility and make it work or you shut up and accept your victimization. A few pointers, do not give (State) Judges the right to sentence! you do that yourself. You require by law that any police action that involves more than 2 local officers be cleared by the local council setup for that purpose and you pass laws that make it clear to all officers involved they can and will be exposed to prosecution should their behavior be found unacceptable. The foundation of all levels of justice and public service should be respect for others and failure to do at least this much would be grounds for dismissal. Are you beginning to see what I'm saying? this used to be the way people behaved, until you became lazy and complacent. Common sense and responsibility were the hall marks of service to others, you support your justice system so it does not require Swat teams and heavy handed tactics by community intervention long before they may need to be called in. We Canadians complain as well, you don't hear us over the noise of your own complaining that's all, we tend to toss out Gov'ts more often and we have a healthy distrust of all levels of Gov't in general, but sadly we to are beginning to suffer from apathy, I hope we can both change and soon! Here in BC we are voting to try a Single Transferable Vote system, to shake things up a bit, check it out.

I have a few questions, and perhaps I should reread the article. I don't like running my life by fear. Information makes wiser people, instead of tactics creating sheeple, or lemmings.

A sister and I started a type of Co-op business with cheese, fresh from the factory, years ago. We made ten cents a pound for our efforts of coordination, order taking and delivery. We then gave other women ten cents a pound for taking orders, and increased the service to a business, worth our time. I sold her my part of the business when it no longer interested me. My sis later bought a company that sold bulk foods, and developed it into a multi-state business, including shipping once a month to remote areas with her own fleet of semi-trucks.

When someone sells food, there is regulation required, like having a business license, a food handler's license if anything is opened, or requires refrigeration. Past experiences proved safety was worth having rules. In this case, did they sell unpasteurized milk or cheese, etc., or anything else that the Health Dept. deemed unsafe? So many rules are bent around Corporate interests now, and much of the food, ironically is unsafe, as we know. FDA and EPA, etc. need total replacement.

I am wondering if this family co-op included distributing supplies against state or local rules? As laws and rules strangle our freedoms, some resist with their own interpretation or rebellion. It is best to challenge and change the laws, as hard-handed law enforcement is pretty nasty. The cops etc. just do what they are told, for a paycheck. If this family has broken no rules and laws, I hope an attorney volunteers to sue the Government agencies involved, though as we know, the amount is always limited, as laws protect agencies, however dysfunctional. Ironic again, most legislators who create the laws are attorneys themselves. The citizen gets squeezed, for taxes and liberties and rights.

This makes me very sad, Where do the establishments find these "human beings" that do there dirty work,how do the establishments manage to brain wash the police and secret police into treating there human brothers and sisters in this way? will they ever wake up or are they simply not human beings! I have been reporting on the treasons occuring in our nation for the last 2 years, but what happened in Ohio is just the tip of the iceberg. There are Executive Orders that will let our government take over all of our rights, and we now live in a police state. You can be arrested if you take pictures or video's of Police Actions. You can be stopped at anytime and the police demand you submit to searches and answer their questions or else. Any resistance is a Felony. Until we retake control of this nation, this will continue. Obama is the Fool that has been elected to continue this fraud, and to end our sovereignty. Our banks have been raided, our manufacturing move out of our nation. GM, Chrysler, and Ford will be forced to quit, so we can't build our military needs.

We can and will be forced to surrender, when they turn off our utilties, close all the grocery stores, gas stations, banks, and demand we stay in our homes until the SWAT team arrives to confiscate all weapons. You will surrender all weapons, or else. You think this food deal is only in Ohio, while one of the Executive Orders gives our government the right to enter every home in America to remove excess food for the good of the community. All TV and Radio stations will be turned off by the FCC. All Newspapers will cease publication and delivery. All mail incoming and outgoing will cease. All personal communication will cease.

Wake up Americans, I'm an 82 year old Citizen that knows what they can and are planning to do.

You pay your own premiums, through withholdings from your employer or direct payment if you’re self-employed, while someone else gets healthcare through the government, thanks to your tax dollars. In January, Great Britain announced that a group of inspectors will be hired and trained to visit British homes and offer advice to homeowners on what foods to eat and what to throw away. They’ll be handing out guidance literature on optimum portion sizes and what to do with leftovers, as well as explaining the difference between “best before,” “use by,” and “sell by” dates. According to an article in the Daily Mail, the British government is going to send out its agents to go through the refrigerators and pantries of British subjects and judge whether they are eating well and properly managing their food. Justice Ginsburg told a group at Ohio State University that she believed U.S. judges were justified in using precedent established in foreign courts when handing down decisions on U.S. matters, according to an article in the New York Times. “Why shouldn’t we look to the wisdom of a judge from abroad with at least much ease as we would read a law review article written by a professor?”

Everyday more of our rights are taken away and the foundations by which this country was built upon are becoming a dim memory. Our public school system is worse than ever feeding our children trash from government text books and most graduating with the equivalent of a fifth grade education. This prsident gets the award for doing all he can to rip away any moral and ethical foundation that was left. Every nation fell as a result of moral decline. His big government will make it so that even health food stores and markets will be forced to close down as well as organic farms let alone small co-ops. It doesn't matter what name you put to it, our freedom is being taken away and our national debt higher than anything we have ever seen. Maybe if people will finally get smart and figure out that the misuse of credit cards and out of controll loans and spending are some of the reasons we are in so much debt then our loan shark banking industry wouldn't need to be bailed out. Thankfully I live under God's econemy which brings great peace and He continues to provide for us and meet all our needs.

I find your motives and actions HIGHLY suspect. It's obvious that if the laws you are pushing get through the police-like attitude of certain governmental officials (already drunk with what little power they already have) will only continue to grow.

I sent the following letter to DeLauro, Pelosi and Obama:

"Unlike Ryan Grim, I HAVE a brain and actually utilize its powers of deduction. It's obvious that you neither care nor look out for small or organic farmers.

Your reaction to the rightful questioning by your colleagues was more than predictable. Of course you portray an innocent, altruistic government worker, when in reality YOU and YOUR FAMILY have the most to gain from Monsanto's unconscionable fight for complete power over the country's food supply. Of course you cry the "food quality" defense when asked why you are pushing so hard for laws that would authorize more government intrusion into the private lives of those wishing to feed their families the way they wish. Of course you deny that you won't benefit from this sinister plot to allow Monsanto to grow richer by tainting the crops of honest farmers only to make them pay "royalties" for growing these tainted crops (when they didn't want to grow them in the first place). And, of course you sum up the public awareness of your actions as a "viral internet campaign" that's basically blown everything out of proportion-- I mean, if you acknowledged the reality to yourself, how could you be okay with what you see in the mirror?

You say, "The intent of the bill is to focus on the large, industrial processes such as the peanut processing plant in Georgia that was responsible for the salmonella outbreak that killed nine people," so why did this unjust search and seizure take place in Ohio (see link below)? The officials NEVER told these people there was a tainted food risk. They were targeted because they are providing for THEMSELVES-- an act that doesn't conform to your idea of a socialist society!
