The basic premise is that your body accumulates more toxins in the modern world than its natural detoxification system (your liver, kidneys and lungs) can get rid of. Eating junk and then fasting to detox makes no sense. It's about eating right all the time. However, fasting, whether a green drink fast or a total fast or whatever, can have benefits for certain conditions. It's better to avoid toxins to begin with. Certain plant chemicals do indeed induce detoxification enzymes, therefore food and herbs do help with detox.

I fast by eating less to save money or many times I just run out of food. I have purposely fasted many times and it has helped me. I fast everyday now because, frankly I can't afford much food. It's forced calorie restriction for me.

Phase 1 can create more toxic intermediates and Phase 2 is necessary to get the toxins out of the bloodstream and out of the body so that can be a real problem. This is especially so now in modern times since we have so many more fat soluble toxins. I never put my clients on a fast until they have changed their diets and have been working with me for awhile first to ensure that their organs of elimination are working well and I NEVER put someone with low life force (like someone with chronic fatigue syndrome) on a fast. I have seen truly horrible things happen with people who have fasted under these conditions. You need good celular energy to be able to properly eliminate toxins. But for people who are basically healthy, or who have done the work first, it is O.K. remember, too everyone, we are all detoxifying all the time. So as you read this, you are detoxifying. Fasts accelerate he process, especially Phase 1.

group of folks. Seek assistance for recommendation and guidance for proper fasting and detoxification methods.

We are all one. We can choose to heal or not. What path to heal or detoxify for one may not be the path that works for another.

With food, water, air and our environment so toxic, I'm consciously choosing to not further the toxicity within me. Do the best you can whenever you can.

Creating awareness to choose less food, drink healthy fluids, and embrace rest, as much as exercise, are sound choices to help detoxify.

1. Radio 2. Microwave 3. Infared 4. Visible Light 5. UVA (cancer causing) 6. UVB (cancer causing) 7. X-ray.

The only difference in the types of waves is the speed at which the light travels. In an infared sauna, one exposes their entire body to a very strong light wave which has the potential to "cook" the internal organs. Long-term studies have not been done on the use of infared in humans. It may be beneficial, but in what applications, at what temperatures, for how long? What is the therapeutic use of infared?

THESE QUESTIONS HAVE NOT BEEN ADDRESSED IN ANY SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE THAT I'M AWARE OF. I've only seen sales-pitch hype to promote its use.

I'm very leary, because in fact, infared IS AN ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD (EMF). A bit of research on the NASA websites will help you get a visual on the light spectrum and what infared is.

I bought one for my home and returned it, after I realized it was heating the inside of my body more than the outside. I would never use one again, unless I were convinced it is beneficial by studies, not by subjective experience. I regret using it and hope I haven't caused any damage to my cells. The heating of the cells in that manner may cause free radical damage as well.

Fasting every other day is a sure-fire way to good health according to new research in rats. Experiments done at the National Institute on Aging show that skipping meals causes significant and lasting reductions in blood sugar, blood pressure and heart rate. The program worked even if it was started in adulthood. And that’s not all. Resistance to stress, weight-loss and increased life span (by one-third) were part of the reward of skimpy eating. Researchers have known for decades that calorie restriction extends life span—as long as the restricted diet meets nutrient requirements, but the findings about enhanced stress-resistance are new.

The study is the first to report that even though the rats skipping meals were just as active during the day as those getting three squares, they were less active at night. This coincides with reports that people on fasts sleep better, have better concentration, more vigor and are less likely to get upset during the day. Some of this may occur because fasting elevates growth hormone (GH) in aging people. Two days of fasting can elevate GH 400%. The hormone is impressive with regard to its ability to turn flab into muscle, restore an optimistic mind-set and reverse other signs of aging.

Every-other-day eating greatly improves the body’s ability to cope with stress. It reduces levels of stress-activated hormones of the kind that trigger heart attacks, and activates proteins designed to protect the body against stress. Going without food every other day appears to have the same benefits as eating 30% less everyday. Both types of caloric restriction significantly extend life span and improve health. Other studies show that , caloric restriction increases the resistance of brain cells to stress and provokes the formation of new neurons from stem cells. It increases the resistance to toxins and upregulates beneficial genes. (quoted from Terri Mitchell)

Raw foods are designed to help the body detoxify. All toxins have a positive ionic charge. We all understand how positive and negative attract. Raw, unheated foods (including raw meats like Carpaccio and Ceviche, raw eggs and raw dairy as well as raw nut/seeds and fruits/vegetables) have a negative ionic charge. When yo eat raw foods, not only are you putting a high aomount of nutrients in the body, but the negative ionic charge of the raw food attaches to the positive ionic charge of the toxins to assist in elimination of the toxins. Interesting to note that all cooked foods have a positive ionic charge (toxin). Of course it is ont easy to change to a raw diet, by any little bit you can consume daily helps. Kim Cohen, Author "Raw To Radiant: The Secrets to a Long Life of Radiant Health Through Raw Foods"
