Not only do I feel better, but my bad reactions to many foods have diminished greatly. Also, my back has been getting stronger instead of weaker since starting the raw milk. I think that the zoning laws should be changed to allow for two goats in everyone's yard. If you haven't already done so, I would suggest reading Bernard Jensen's book "Goat Milk Magic." Goat milk really is the near perfect food. The cheeses that can be produced from the milk are nourishing and delicious. The straw, hay, and manure that I clean from the goat pen is spread in my organic garden to produce nourishing and delicious vegetables and fruits. Goats are pets that just keep on giving.

I HIGHLY recommend it! It follows a year in the life of a family who moves to a farm in rural Virginia and vows to only grow their own food or buy locally for a year. Not only does it talk about their often humorous personal insights, but talks about the history of how our food has become so tainted, how heritage plants and animals are becoming extinct because of the food industry and how to plant your own gardens, etc. It's facinating and I think every person in the USA and the industrialized world should read it and become reacquainted with how farming really works and what eating locally truly means for the future of the world!

It's taken me some time to discover the secrets in my local area both by searching the internet and word of mouth. My local health food store (a true store with fresh product and organic deli) has employees that are a wealth of information on farmers, etc. in our area since they frequent the store and hear it from other customers.

In my area we currently use the local farmers market, a CSA program for vegetables, a widowed farmer for raw goats milk and eggs, and we've recently discovered a farm where I can place an order for fruits and vegetables (in season of course), organic beef, chicken, and eggs all grown on that farm and milk shares.

One thing I did discover on a recent visit to Whole Foods in Northern Virginia is that they are marking produce as "local" but it is coming from Maryland and Pennslyvania. Go figure!

re: Want to Eat Healthier?
