Misleading data about the good and bad sides of white and dark meat abound. Finally, here is the real truth about the meat you eat. As a mixed or more appropriately named balanced type, I do well on high or low fat meats. I prefer dark or heavier meats most of the time, and listening to my body is something I've learned to do. Ted Turner's chain of restaurants called Ted's Montana Grill has Bison and grass fed organic beef on their menu. One of their managers told us that Ted owns about 450,000 head of bison, and all are range fed and organic. You can buy this Bison at the restaurant raw, and cook it at home for about 50% of the menu price.

What I would like to know is how wild venison and moose compare to buffalo. We have deer farms in our area but I am not interested in buying farmed venison as I am quite sure it will no better than much of the beef available.

You mentioned Bison as a good meat alternative to beef......and so it is if it is indeed raised as grassfed and not feedlot finished like most beef products. It is very important to know your producer, and that he is not finishing in a feedlot on high energy feedstuffs like corn. Most bison found on grocer's shelves today are finished in the feedlot on corn just like beef, and therefore lose all their healthy meat characteristics, just like beef does. Any animal; whether cattle, bison, elk, or Yak that is finished in the feedlot on corn will lose 90% of the healthy fat distribution characteristics, and become no better than standard mushy processed beef. I raise grassfed, pasture finished Yaks, and produce Yakmeat that is sweeter, juicier, and healthier than any corn fed meat. www.yakmeat.us ; and you can take that to the bank!

D’Adamo’s “Eat Right 4 Your Type” many years ago, I believe that the answer to what "type" you are is embedded in your genes. The assimilation of food into our bodies is a complex “chemical” process so it makes sense to me that the transporter of the components (blood) plays a major part. From the book’s jacket: “Your blood type reflects your internal chemistry… It determines… the foods you should eat.”

In my personal experience, knowing my blood type and applying Dr. D’Adamo’s principles has made a huge difference in how I feel (and I know many others for whom the same is true).

Studying how the human body works is absolutely fascinating! My quest for knowledge has brought me to Dr. Mercola -- kudos to him for providing so much good, sensible, useful information!
