Dr. Mercola recomments not to use grains. I think that it is partially because grains almost always are consumed cooked - breads, pasta, cookies, cereals, porridge. Uncooked rolled oats (old fashioned or 'quick"), mixed with grated apples, carrots, or any kind of fruit or vegetable juice, as any raw food, are very benefitial. You need to chew the food, in such a case saliva enzymes will start dygestion in the mouse, so such a mixture should not have too much juice in it. I am 69 years old, hvae for breakfast the mentioned mixture of oats and grated apples during the last 5 years, and my digestion problems disappeared. My blood pressure is 115-120/65-70, no medications at all.

Also, I think like Mercola says about nutritional typing, everybody is different. I have had no luck lowering my own cholesterol with niacin, guggul or red yeast rice, but fish oil and policosanol did work for me. It has never been below 200 since having kids. My worst levels were when I was vegetarian - especially my HDL and total chol., and my HDL only went up when I took all the grains out of my diet and ate a lot more protein. Another friend took CoQ10 and lowered hers - that didn't affect mine either. I did see mine lower a lot right after a food elimination diet and it naturally comes down when I can reduce the stress in my life. So I think inflammation is a key but it can be difficult to find the cause of the inflammation in some instances. I personally don't worry about my 260+ cholesterol. I watch my BP, Lpa, homocysteine, crp, insulin.

In 1950 cardiovascular disease was the number one killer of Americans and in 2009 cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of Americans. Hundreds of billions of dollars have been wasted on what should be a discredited and useless therapy supposedly designed to "cure" cardiovascular disease. When this did not happen they began throwing in the "other risk factors". In truth the whole theory of CV disease being caused by "high cholesterol" is junk science carried to the extreme.

As a long time health practitioner, Natural Vision specialist and now cancer survivor due to the Vitamin D out of balance, I enjoyed your video today. Yes, even during my training with natural vision, the use of light, all kinds, and even some that 'they' say are harmful actually turned people's health around. Of course full-spectrum is best...and the lack of light is what causes most of the light-sensitivity. I wanted to acknowledge your statement about the medical drugs and how the potential for 'not killing us' with them still causes tremendous harm regardless, for a little pregnant is of course, still pregnant. I had Optometrists who worked with me, be totally manipulated into using eye drugs, and RX when the last thing they ever wanted to do was prescribe drugs when there were natural ways of reversing some eye problems. They, like many physicians are actually 'forced' to comply with new protocols in order to stay current, and to stay 'in step' with colleagues even with they don't agree. I had natural optometrists be literally afraid to see and work with my studens when they needed to back-step their RX as their eyesight got better and better for fear of being ostracized. We are in a very sad time in our holistic health time in our world for the drug companies have smuggled themselves into all of the disciplines.. .including funding the making of contacts, and so very much more. We as citizens simply MUST explore alternative ways and this forum is a brilliant way to give us a voice through which to educate, inform and reverse so many things that have NO side effects but good health returned. BRAVO. Now I promote, educate and give solutions in many areas as I did have cancer, reversed it, and other things through the alkalizing of my body in a very particular way with ultimate health water using whole life water. I am so grateful that after all these years, what is natural is, and will always work for our body, for its wisdom is beyond any drug!

I said to myself if it’s borderline high why don’t he just recommend that I make a few minnow lifestyle changes and that should bring it down. So I did some research on the Internet about cholesterol and found out about the HDL, LDL and triglycerides. According to my research, high triglyceride levels were a more important factor in this regard than high cholesterol levels and if the HDL/LDL ratio was optimal then you could safely have a much higher cholesterol level.

So what I did is I got a blood tests, got the results and noticed that my HDL/LDL ratio was optimal and my triglycerides were very low. So I presented the printout results of this test to another one of my doctors. He too said that I had borderline high cholesterol. Then I asked him what my HDL/LDL ratio was and he took another look and said, “Well when you consider the ratio you’re actually normal.” And when I considered my low triglyceride levels I considered myself to be better than normal.

In short: the few doctors that I’ve seen only look at cholesterol levels and nothing else. They just wanted to leave the door open to get me on drugs.
