My goal is to be a homemaker who educates others on the evils of Monsanto, politics, etc. I could try harder to make real change in the world, but I have already helped to sway the most ingrained of people and I am proud of myself.

Nice article. I will be putting more love into dinner tonight and perhaps calling my congressman.

Mosento, WaltMart, Macdo and all the business are doing what they can to take the control and destroy our planet. It's not people just happy at painting a garage door who change the world, find cure, act in greenpeace to save the whales and make a difference in the balance. No doing your full potential is deprivate it to the rest oh humanity while the bad boys are doing the best at what they do! Being happy in the moment and realizing our full potential (like Mercola) are not 2 things. Not everybody can be the best but are the best of yourself as a gift to humanity? Or do you try to indulge you in your comfort zone? If we want to win in the race to have a better world, we must absolutely do our best, each and every participants in this life!
I am an exceptionally high acheiver who has realised a large number of goals at an early age, and then again at a later age.

I have met a lot of the right people, from Warren Buffett to Bill Gates, done all the things I have wanted to do from Astronaught training to being a Flight Instructor and asked a lot of questions along the way, and owned several succesful businesses and have what is loosely termed "financial security". I als am happily married and have three beautiful daughters.

After all of this, I would have to say that some of the above comments are exceptionally insightful - in particular those of Stephen Burgio.

As soon as you realise that your most precious asset in indeed your life and health (this includes mental heath as well as physical health) and you only have about 4000 weeks to live on this planet, this context change can in itself help you realise your own potential, and work out what it is you want in your life, rather than JUST working from a financial balance sheet.

If money is what you reallywant, you will almost always get it, but without some form of rest or balance your life can be considerably disrupted. I think a lot of the anxiety that comes from living in the information age and being politically correct is what can cause stress that regardless of your aspirations can damage your life and physiology.

I have a large library of books, largely dedicated to finance, success and history, as well as psychology and marketing. Indeed the favorite book that I have is one titled "Slowing Down to the Speed of Life" by Richard Carlsen and Joseph Baily you can get it on Amazon for about $12 USD. It shows you how to throttle your left brain down, and hence get into a state of flow rather than pushing through life. I have found since reading this book (several times which is rare for me) the quality and decisions in my life have improved considerably

Being happy with who you are and just being in the moment as you do whatever you're doing is all that's needed to being happy. I spent 7 hours last week-end scraping and sanding my in-laws garage door while listening to old Stevie Wondor songs and was totally enjoying myself with a job well done. Everyone can't be the best. But if you can find joy in the everyday stuff, why obsess over what you haven't accomplished. So much wasted time and effort.

what i don't understand is why someone/some people who are super negative are giving thumbs down to everyone's comments here! they seem at least somewhat useful. what worked for some may not work for others. are these people who are giving all these comments thumbs down successful people? i'm just going to go ahead and assume that probably not.. and that's because successful people usually have a positive attitude and look less negatively at things. i notice that from myself... i used to be negative.. now i'm more positive, love life and my current situation and i'm way more successful. it's the law of attraction. so, as silly as it might seem, your reactions to things on a message board on the internet correlates with your overall happiness and success.

maybe you're offended... sometime's reality hurts. are you lazy and can't deal with it? are you no where when you thought you'd be somewhere at some point? don't be offended.. work from there.

or maybe i'm just way off and those suggestions weren't all that great anyway. i didn't see a reason to give them thumbs down though.

how you treat others, and how you view the things around you are related to your happiness, which is often related to success!

today something as silly as a group called "i hate stupid people" on facebook made me come to a realization. it was a group where people listed everything they hated about the things people would do... and i thought "wow.. i need to lighten up and make sure i don't turn into these bitter angry people." so relax and try to smile.

my point? happiness is related to success.

You are too fragmented, too distracted from doing your best by doing a thousand other things that are less than best - sure, you are doing things that are good for you or for others, but you never have time to work toward fulfilling your potential.

Part of that fragmentation is also due to the internet. There is so much available out here, and much of it is interesting or satisfying. You have to cut it off at some point. So log off right now and fulfill your potential!

re: The Five Reasons Why You Are Not Fulfilling Your Potential

The points are all good points, but certain questions still remain: Why am I in this place to begin with? Even though I want to move forward, why do I feel dragged down, internally (like there is sabotaging component deep within)? Why bother? Not all these questions necessarily apply to everyone, but they are questions I have had. Some authors have been realy useful in this area are Christopher Lasch, Paul Goodman, and to some degree John Taylor Gatto. Could it be that the goals we want for ourselves aren't worthy goals? Maybe what we need more is necessity and not lofty goals. If we don't find necessity in what we want to accomplish, we can't accomplish very much. For instance I often think about the exhortation of the speaker in the book of Ecclesiastes to work hard with all one's might. And there is the often repeated message that enjoying the fruit of one's labor is a chief in life. I have for a while struggled with the latter because I assumed fruit of labor to be the remuneration for it, but it is not; it is the end product of one's work. We also live in a world that does not want your best; it gauges everything by revenue, by profit. We have to reject that notion & instead live according to higher standards, ideals.

Simply ask yourself the following question:

"I can't reach my goals because ___________. "

If you filled in the blank with anything at all, then these are the beliefs that are holding you back. What you know is true and what you believe is true can differ. Make sure you differentiate between the two and eliminate any false beliefs that you may be holding on to.
