Who knew it affected digestion so profoundly. Maybe that's one reason I could never get my calcium levels up. As a person who always got stressed easily and had crashed adrenals I've worked hard to avoid and manage stress, changing how I react to it and what a huge difference it has made.

I had forgotten just how good it feels when those endorphins kick in. Exercise is a major stress buster and thank you Dr. Mercola for posting this excellent article touting it's benefits! :-)

Althought this information is true, origin od "fight or flight" is not being focused upon. The body functions according the "A(airway), B(beathing) and C(circulation) priority all the time. Our tongue/Jaw relation in general in "civilized" society (not what Weston Price studied in first half of the last century) is impaired. Most often tongues are crowded by crowded dentition and other times (less often) the mouth is too large for the tongue to provide appropiate proprioceptive stimulus to the tongue to allow for muscle tone, position and posture for ease of the primary functions of the tongue< swallowing, speaking and preathing. Farrand C. Robson, DDS has identified the way the body compensates for this. It is through going into a state of fight or flight, what has been aptly defined as stress here, clenching and grinding of the teeth (look up Human Jaw-Tongue reflex and by going to a forward head position (compromised posture) to manage the airway so the body stop getting signals that it is choking (on the tongue). look at hre study: in “Compensatory head posture changes in patients with obstructive sleep apnea” by Tong, Maorong, and others in the Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology -- Medical Sciences – Pages 66-69 - Volume 20, Number 1 / March, 2000. Information is now surfacing in the literature. However, Joe Mercola and others, this is basic science, coupled with Farrand Robson"s pbservation powers and common sense. It takes alot for the body to manage whatever the posture, fight or flight hormone levels and "jaw muscle tone and position" to maintain a balance for different individuals, so any sudden relaxation or distraction upsets the equilibrium of the tongue in the throat. The tongue drops back providing the most primal threat to us "choking" or compromising the airway and the body has a surge of "fight or flight" . Out of words!

One day I was visiting a friend and saw a small staple bound book on her coffee table. The title was something like How to Beat Stress by, I believe, Oxman is the last name. I can't remember the first name.

The book was only about 20 pages. I read the whole book in short order. My life has never been the same. Stress is no longer a problem. I have never read or heard anything like that book before or since. Funny — how these things happen!

Good luck to all.

You must get to know yourself, who you really are. The ultimate tool is the Enneagram. Beware, it will take a little time to come to terms with it, but otherwise, you will always revert to your stress by not knowing why you are how you are. The Ego will always step in to "protect" you by invoking "sinful" behavior (pride, sloth, lust, etc.). Until you know how to blow it all off with a good dose of reality, you will spend all your time trying to remember little "tips" about what to do for stress. Frustrating, they will always be with you then.

Personality Types by Riso is a great encyclopedia to start with. My Best Self, Hurley/Dobson, explains the spiritual aspect of it all.

Or you can just keep tying ribbons around your fingers. Over the bandaids, of course (hate to mix metaphors).

This is such an important mineral, often more important than calcium!!! The symptoms of low magnesium are pretty much what people suffer when they have been under too much stress. Please, if you're feeling stressed, make sure you get more magnesium! (like 2-3x the RDA, but not all at once, and you may need to try different forms or try topical magnesium for a while)

I would recommend "Molecules of Emotion" by Candace Pert for the explanation part.

Food Combining. Improper food combining causes the foods we eat to ferment and putrefy. Thus preventing

the ability of the body to properly breadown the foods into simple sugars, fatty and amino acids. The resulting

poisons cause physiological stress to the body which further prevents our capacity to deal with stressors in

the environment. If you are not aware of the Science of Food Combining, I would suggest you incorporate

this subject into your research paradigm. It's benefits are far reaching.
