A certain percentage of UVB light penetrates cloud cover, and nearly all UVA. Obviously, the amount of UVB absorbed, or scattered would be greater with heavy cloud; less with light cloud, and lowest with haze.

What I have been trying to find is a way to quantify the percentage of loss, so that I can adjust the amount of time spent in trying to achieve adequate exposure to UVB to maintain my vitamin D3 levels near optimal in the winter months.

Does anyone have any information, weblinks, or could we get an educational institution, or perhaps Dr. Mercola, or the vitamin D council to devise a program of testing with meters for both UVA, and UVB, at a given latitude; say 38, or 40 degrees?

It seems to me that such information would benefit many people who are unable to access the special, artificial lighting, and avoid supplements. I am advised that most vitamin D3 comes from China, these days, and I am still not convinced of their quality, or safety, despite assurances that their factories are regularly inspected by overseas scrutineers.

So were some of the German concentration camps, by the Red Cross, during WW2, and of course everything was set up to produce the predictable favourable outcome!

I believe that it would make a good subject for a thesis, although testing would need to be meticulously done every day, over the course of a year. Several students, at various altitudes, in several states, East, and West; North, South, and central could be involved, generating a database of information which could then be applied to most locations.

Chemtrails are a serious issue, but I will not discuss them in this forum. I really like the idea of this tanning bed and would consider purchasing one if I had a larger house and more money. Unfortunately, it discredits most articles when the information is used to sell products.

I think most people COULD afford it if they saved up money. My family of four makes less than 35k a year with a house, 2 cars, 2 dogs, etc. We don't buy consumer junk or eat out, but we only buy organic foods and products not made in China. We just managed to take a 2 week trip to Europe and we bought a several thousand dollar home water filtration system a few years back. Do you really need to buy a new car or buy new clothes? Buy second hand, fix and build things yourself and you can have much more spending money.

Be smart with your money and stop blaming "the economy." It is all baloney hype pushed by the media. The American economy has been down since NAFTA and the term "recession" is used to push legislation quickly. This does not mean buying a tanning bed is the smartest investment, but I like to tan and would like to be able to when I have free time- whether it is snowing in December or midnight in July.

My husband would probably never let me buy it, but maybe there is some kind donor out there *wink* *wink*

Islander, As a moderator it amazes me that you would use the age old tactic of attacking the individual rather than address the issue - how draconian! You speak of "intelligence" but choose to use none of it!

This IS a health forum, and if you spent even a fraction of the time researching the issues presented you would have a different view - an intelligent view! This subject was brought up to serve two purposes - 1) inform those who are no and provide them a chance to research it for themselves; and 2) express a concern for the health issues that are prevalent concerning the well documented use of these chemicals. If you had chosen to research this at all, you would have found that the HAARP Program is real and admitted to by our own pentagon; that the term "chemtrails" is not new; that there was a bill introduced in 2001 by Sen. Kucinich to stop this from being done; that the military has written papers on it (using weather as a force multiplier and owning the weather by 2025); that even President Obama has publicly made comments concerning "geo-engineering" the weather; that the Wall Street Journal has written articles on the subject called "Weather made to Order" and numerous (too many to list) other documents on the material being used in the chemtrail process.

Next time you choose to debunk or attack any individual concerned for their health and that of the rest of this nation do your homework and respond intelligently!

I too live in the Seattle area. Dr. Wright was extreemly generous by saying Seattle only gets 227 days of cloud cover per year. The average is actually 60 days of sun per year. Dr. Wright was correct July and August are usually the only months with sun. Over the past two years we had far less than the 60 days of sunshine - no spring and inly two weeks of summer; this year however we have had a great spring, and it looks like we might even have a summer as well. If it is true that vit D cuts back on cancer Seattlelites must either take a lot of vit D or the cancer rates must be the highest in the country, would be intrresting to find out.

I live in Atlanta and these planes are spraying grids all over our city on pretty much a daily basis! I went to Orlando for 3 weeks and they do it over that city too..--so who said they could spray who knows what in our atmosphere anyway??

What puzzles me is how folks that live above 60^o N manage their Vit-D if they haven't been supplementing it or even aware that they needed supplementation.

Not for centuries they wouldn't have known. This would include almost all the N. European, fair-skinned people living anywhere in Alaska as well as the Inuit and many other tribes native to the various territories above 60^o N. In short, how the heck have the Esquimo tribes been thriving so long if they're suffering from Vit-D deficiencies - as they must be. Or do they get it in other ways? Do the gringos and other "sourdoughs" also have other sources that far north?

Freedom of speech...The sky is being hazed over or fake clouds are being made by military jets pretty much on a daily basis here in S. Oregon.

They are known as Chemtrials. Of course, this will have a affect on our sun which in turn will have a affect on our health.

The health of all living things. This goes back to the early 60's...maybe 50's. It's more common nowadays to see this around the world

being done. We were first told it was for weather control, I am not sure what to believe.

I am concerned about the health of our planet which in turns affects us.
