With all the focus these days on global warming and everything "going green," why is it that Monsanto (and their ilk) can so underhandedly continue to move forward on genetically engineered food products? How can the USA be so hypocritical as to send minions to other countries to try to change their practices of destroying rain forests, etc., when they are in fact destroying the rain forests by the growing of genetically engineered soybeans (designed by Monsanto) and other products in the rain forests? And now, after much ado about not growing GE sugar beets, 2008 is [nearly] here, and the commencement of GE sugar beet growth in the USA will commence. Why? How can this be happening?

To further complicate the issue, the sugar derived from these sugar beets is NOT required to be labeled GE or GMO, and will be consumed by uneducated people everywhere, including the most vulnerable -- children! Yet another reason NOT to consume sugar IN ANY FORM!

I find it very interesting that the USA is one of the VERY FEW countries NOT fighting against these GE products! Where does it end? Dr. Mercola, HELP!!!!!!

Yes. I'm on an action list regarding genetically modified foods, and I take the list very seriously even though my family and the general public does not.

If the Monsanto's of the world are not stopped, our entire food source, world wide, will be owned by the biotech companies. In fact, our bodies, since they contain genetically modified ingredients, will be owned by these companies.

Monsanto and other bad actors have put honest farmers out of business in Canada, the U.S.A., and other parts of the world because the environment has moved genetically modified genes from contaminated acreage to clean, often organic farms. Organic and conventional farmers do not have enough money to win against these bad actors, and are put out of business. As more and more factory farms take over, more and more people will become ill from these foods. And if the trend continues, the planet will be in great peril.

Action is needed. Start by reading the books by Jeffrey M. Smith, beginning with Genetic Roulette.
