By you getting involved in politics you have overstepped your roll of providing objective health information to people. It is counterproductive and a real turnoff!

Mainly, we do not have to reinvent the wheel. There are programs in place in many countries that do this well. Pick one! OR if that doesn't work for congress, see the forest. Let every American have the same plan you get. We pay for it and you all can afford what most people can't-private pay. OR let the lobbies put 1.4 million a day into the pot, which is being donated now to "our" representatives. (Isn't bribery against the law?) This whole bickering process makes us look, and be, foolish.OR make "nonprofit" be just that. Here in Orlando,Fl. the two hospital owners (both churches non- taxable for those of you outside U.S.) made fortunes and pay their CEO's millions of dollars. The thought of the suffering, pain, and hardship many go through is too much.

Frankly I find the mess left in this country after the last 8 years, plus corp.greed and the "I've got mine " mindset to be totally anti any religion or creed. The arguement that the lazy, dopers, and uneducated by choice are the bums that want to take from the rich is totally bogus. (rather like expecting people to live on $8.00 an hour.). We all want the same American dream: a place to live safely, a job to support them, and the ability to have healthy families. It's a shame there is so much that the servants of the people are not serving " the people ".Perhaps our citizens should riot to get the point across.

As for me, I'm very lucky. My husband has a well-paying job and very good insurance. That's good because I have health issues and cannot work and don't get disability. So but for grace I (or you) could be without healthcare or meds. Think about that as you listen to people who get paid big bucks to oppose change. Too bad they weren't oppositional to an unnessary war that has cost too much for too many. THAT was wasted money. P.S. The title is misleading as the cost is over many years.

CURRENT PROPOSALS WILL AGGRAVATE RATHER THAN SOLVE OUR HEALTH CRISIS

The Solution is a Free Market that rewards Health Care rather than Sickness Control

By Yee-Wing Tong, M.D., June, 2009

Current proposals will fail, as they address the symptoms rather than the causes of our crisis, which have not be adequately exposed.

Our root problem is that orthodox medicine does not cure diseases or improve health. It detects and treats symptoms rather than their causes. Hence, treatments are endless, as the causes are not cured. For example, masking pain, hypertension and other symptoms with drugs without curing their causes is akin to painting over water stains on a wall without fixing the leak that causes them. Endless symptom control is costly, and harmful, as the untreated causes continue to rot the body. Moreover, the side effects of drugs add more harm and further increase cost. The result is an expensive, detrimental vicious cycle of exams, tests and therapies that never cure diseases or restore health.

The enormous harm of our system is seldom publicized. Article I in the Articles section of drtong.com provides data to show that standard drugs and surgery therapies kill over 230,000 Americans a year and are the 3rd leading cause of death! CDC statistics further indicate that physicians are the #1 cause of death for Americans age 45 or younger! In addition, five out of five times when physicians in various nations staged work strikes, the death rate in the vicinity dropped precipitately, and rose back to the pre-strike level when they returned to work! Yet this data does not include the unmeasurable morbidity as well as unreported deaths, especially those from thousands of drug studies.

There is also no true prevention. Annual exams and tests only detect but do not prevent diseases. Prevention requires health enhancement through treatments that avoid drugs, and healthy diet/lifestyle. Unfortunately, FULL ARTICLE on www.drtong.com

I live in the UK where health care is free for all. If you are hit by a car( either ltterally or metaphorically) you are taken at once for highly skilled care . You do not have to lose your life or your house if you or your family is sick or hurt . It is there for all without question. The freedom of cover is not the same as concerns about alliopathic medicine and how it is practiced . That is another discussion and thousands of lives are sved by the NHS in the UK everyday.

Our alternative medicine thrives , too. I am an accupunturist and specialist in Chinese Medicine as well as a few other speciallities. Most people in the Uk use one or more alternative practioners regularly though most of that is not on the National health system, some is paid by the state. People are willing to pay.

I have worked against CODEX in Brussels and the UK and it is a real threat to al of us in ways you can not imagine but it is nothing to do with free health care for all . The richest country in the world should be providing this for all their citizens with no doubt and it is a shame and disgrace that they fight against it.

It is caused by progagnda from the very pharma companies you desipse. If you have a National Health service they can not inflate and gouge out funds in the way they are now allowed to in the US.

A medication in the US can cost 20 times more on the open market than it does on the open market in the UK! WHy? Because out government will not allow that kind of price fixing.

Do not knock, even for one second, free health care for all. It is the only hamn and humane thing to do. It is the only thing that makes any sense at all.

At the same time, few people can have a family doctor because of a shotage of them. General practitioners and particularily specialists demand higher fees accordingly. Ironically, United States, by attracting our specialists with highers financial incentives and setting the salary standards in North America, indirectly put pressure on the Canadian system to keep-up and causing a "medical fees inflation". Thus the failing U.S. health care system is threathening the Canadian one,

In every province, privatization (the new buzz word) of easy services (mainly for profit) endangers our health care system to leave the less profitable ones, emergencies, chronic illnesses, palliative care etc. to the public, reinforcing the fallacy that anything run by the government is not efficient. For now, dental care for adults, optometry, psychology are not covered by the public health care system. I assume if everything was covered by the public system, it would then look better, if not profitable (if we can live with that business-like notion for human suffering).

p.s.

Over 10 years ago, for short term money saving, Quebec politicians, knowing doctors are the entry part of the system and the multiplying effect of other services down the line, offered old (and experienced) doctors and nurses generous early retirement packages that they gladly accepted in great numbers. They even limited admissions in medical faculties around the province with the acceptance of the Collège des Médecins (one of the effects would be of course keeping high salaries for the remaining members).

Try running a car with sugar in the gas tank. Same goes for the human body--you need to put the right things into it in order for it to run well.

Higher taxes and more spending. That's why it's going to cost so much.

Just because you live in America does not mean you have any right to healthcare. It's a benefit; not a right. I worked hard, went through years of education, multiple degrees, professional careers, have lots of money for good food, nice house, and plenty of healthcare....because I pay for it! That's why I can get good healthcare....I earned it.

If you don't earn something, you don't get any of it....I am truly sorry you got sick, and can't see a doctor, but that's life.

The government is not your mommy and daddy giving you things. Stop voting liberal/democrat expecting the government to give you social programs and handouts....get it yourself.

insurance and pharmaceutical industries are using to fight any health care

reform that might kill their golden goose. If the single payer plan (which I

prefer) or at least a public option plan go through these industries won't

be able to make huge profits and pay their CEO's and board of directors

huge compensation packages (1.6 billion for Bill McGuire of Healthnet)

all while increasing their "denied coverage", increasing co-payments

and monthly fees. They will

also have trouble paying for the 35,000 corporate lobbyists in Washington DC

that help to write legislation that give them even more profit and power.

Also they won't have the money to donate millions of dollars in political campaign donations to our congressmen and senators so that they now

owe them favors.

Bottom line is health care reform will save you and me a lot of money

and cut out the ripoff by the super rich at the top.

Would you like such a system in the US? Wouldn't it make more sense to abolish all restrictions imposed by FDA and laws, abolish all bureaucracy and insurance, and give every form of medicine an equal chance to compete?

3a. Society is formed through the character and mentality of the people. This determines whether or not individuals have a safety net, and health costs that are affordable. Most of all society determines the QUALITY of health care. If QUALITY is defined by politicians who have the interests of Big Pharma at heart you get exactly what you have got now.

Government determines the extend to which you sponsor Big Pharma.

3b. If you believe that it is your right to choose the kind of medicine you want, then all the reform options discussed at present are not for you. All plans give you one option only - to sponsor Big Pharma and take away your right to choose. Choices will be elimated as Big Pharma controls what is taught in medical school. Doctors will have the attitude "when it's not taught in medical school it's not worth knowing". Does this ring a bell ? do these exist already?
