Very effective: coconut oil massaged into your scalp - overnight if you like, if you're shampooing the next day. (cover your pillow with towel). Hot oil with coconut oil is excellent, too.

Then, do "coconut oil pulling therapy". This is an excellent detox - very simple: just gargle coconut oil for 15 minutes and spit it out, rinse, before drinking clean water. Do this 3x a day. It won't just fix your dandruff, it will fix a long list of common illnesses, whiten your teeth, freshen breath.

I want to know if this fungus is contagious - that is can a person in close contact with an infected person catch it?

Princess Paws, the reason your oregano oil works is because it is anti-fungal! I will definitely try this on my scalp, thanks for the tip. I have some! It also can kill the SuperFlu.

Fellow readers,

Any insight you might have on my current situation would be a great help. Allow me to explain:

Over the past year, I have experienced significant hair loss. I truly believe I am in good health (I'm 23, 5'2", and weigh approx. 113lbs.) My diet consists of a lot of the foods Dr. Mercola promotes: grass fed beef, raw milk, pastured eggs, plenty of vegetables, etc. My scalp is the only thing causing real problems for me. Just one day after washing (maybe not even a full 24 hours later) my scalp becomes itchy, irritated, and sensitive to the touch. I find my strands of hair everywhere which is becomming increasingly depressing as my hair is noticeably thinner.

In addition, if I run my fingers through my scalp, I come across some bumps. I've seen a doc. about this which was a waste of time and money since all he did was recommend "Selson Blue" 2x per week. He also suggested I wash my hair daily with Pantene and dry with a blowdryer. Other than these products, I use nothing else on my hair. It has been over 1 month since that visit to the doc. and my symptoms persist. Can anyone offer some help on this? I am posting here becuase I'd rather not return to the doc. because he will most likely prescribe some sort of medication which could end up causing me some other sort of problem in the future.

At this moment, I don't know where else to seek help on this matter.

I owe you one. This is it! I use it as a topical antiseptic, antibiotic and antifungal. It is steeped garlic with Braggs organic apple cider vinegar. Add two heads of crushed garlic cloves to three quarts of rapidly boiling water. Cover and remove from heat. Let steep for 6 hours. Remove garlic from the residue and discard the used garlic. Fill a glass bottle 1/4th full of Braggs organic apple cider vinegar and fill with the steeped garlic water. Add this solution to foot baths, treat scratches and rashes, dilute 1 to 2 parts water to make a hair rinse. See I finally got back to dandruff! There may be other uses and other recipes out there, please email with your success stories!

You want to get rid of Dandruff? It is simply an overgrowth of yeast in the body (fungus). Sugars feed on yeast. When you have more then your body needs, the yeast proliferates.

1. No not eat any SWEETS (no refined or raw sugars, maple syrup, honey etc..) of any kind (all fruit ok except bananas).

2. STOP all breads & grains

Do this for 1 week and you will see ALL dandruff gone 2 weeks at most. BUT you have to stick to it. You'll see. Your hair will be shiny again. Do not wash hair but every 4-5 days, by the way. Taking 3 T coconut oil per day in can accelerate healing also.

About a month ago, I developed dandruff for the first time in my life, which coincided with a yeast infection and itchy underarm rash. I've been taking 1 tbsp of virg coconut oil a day, plus massaging it on scalp, leaving it on for 15 minutes before shampooing with Nizoral followed by Jason tea tree oil conditioner. I've done this about a few times with no success. I have cut down on sweets (use mostly stevia) and carbs, plus take 1000 mg of enteric coated fish oil a day, probiotics, and usually 1 or 2 tbsp flaxseed eo day. Maybe I'll try leaving the shampoo in overnight as someone suggested. I am seeing a naturopath on Friday so hope to get some idea how all these symptoms are related.

TEA TREE OIL!

It's been quite a few years ago when tea tree oil first came on the scene that I read it had anti-fungal properties. Around the same time I read that dandruff, which had been bothering me, may be caused by some type of fungus. I did some research and found dessert essence shampoo with tea tree oil. This is the best shampoo Ive ever used. It cleared up the dandruff after the first use. I think this would be much safer than leaving a dandruff shampoo on your head overnight. The selenium may kill the fungus but what other chemicals is your body absorbing during this time? Another thing is that I had picked up a skin fungus ever since a tirip to the beach in high school and shared towels. A doctor gave me this tiny(and expensive!) tube of cream and the directions said to treat a quarter size part of your body twice a day for 2 weeks. This wouldve taken years to treat. Plus there were parts on my back I couldnt reach so I figured it was something I would have to live with. After the shampoo worked so well on my scalp I decided to try it as a body wash. I would turn the shower off and work in the shampoo and then wash and leave it on my skin for 5 minutes. In about two weeks the skin fungus I had lived with for years was gone. Its also anit-bacterial and a safer alternative to those types of soap. I used the stronger kind that says it can also be used as a natural lice treatment. Havent tried it for that but if I need to it will be the first prodict I will use.

Im also suprised coconut oil wasnt mentioned. It great to use on hair with a few drops of tea tree oil and leave on a few minutes before wshing your hair. Coconut oil protects the protein from being damaged by shampooing.

I know from experience that if one has a clean colon one does not have dandruff. The same is true of just about all skin disorders. So there must be a connection between a polluted colon, and the fungus. Does anyone have simular reactions? At the Same time I use a V. E. Irons colon cleanse I make sure I have Omega 3-6-9 vegetarian formula, also known as The Total EFA. Then there is Wheat Germ oil, vitamin C, green tablets of my choice that helps me through my 7 day cleanse.

Once done, my skin problems vanish. As long as I watch what I eat I am good to go. I know people claim it takes more than seven days to cleanse, but this is a fasting cleanse.

My husband has a thick layer of scales with reddish skin underneath (since his twenties) which in his 60's traveled to his ears! After going on a low starch (after Kaufmann's phase 1) and taking Nordic Naturals Cod or fish oil, that disappeared from his ears, at least. We have tried all sorts of diets, all sorts of shampoos, but what keeps it under good control is using Listerine regular. He puts on a capful of it, leaves it in his hair for 3-4 mins., then shampoos. He's in his 70"s, and we finally, finally got it so that you have to look hard to find any dander. Not a cure, apparently, but if you saw the stuff, it was not a pretty sight. (I've been his sole barber since we've been married.) (How did I not notice that before we were married? Love IS blind.) He started using it every other day, now only about once or twice a week. Hope this helps the desperate cases.

Just use your common sense and not use the damaging, toxic ingredients that are in the shampoos on the market.

Just read Dr Samuel Epsteins information on this area of personal care products and you will learn which one, yes only one, is safe and effective to not damage the skin and, like me, not have dandruff.

The company he has signed off on through independent testing will become known to you.

I have discovered that when I shampoo with DAWN DISH DETERGENT my hair is fluffy and nice, and I have little or no dandruff.

My husband had REALLY bad dandruff for 15-20 years. After about 6 weeks of consistently consuming at least 3 tablespoons of Tropical Traditions Organic Virgin Coconut Oil each day, the dandruff is completely gone! No itching! No flaking! His hair is healthy and shiny and his skin is no longer dry, but soft as a babies!
