It will encourage your mouth to stay shut, keeping you breathing through your nose.

I started this when my granddaughter would wake me up, patting me on the leg telling me I was snoring. As long as I sleep this way, no snoring.

Not to say the same will happen to you, but learning to properly breathe will have many benefits.

From a Buteyko perspective; snoring, apnea and asthma are all symptoms of hyperventilation and are the body's attempts to stop the over-breathing. Hyperventilation leads to loss of carbon dioxide reserves and this causes smoothe muscle to constrict and airways to narrow, become inflamed and produce mucus.

Buteyko breath re-training addresses bad breathing habits - hence the value of taping ones mouth at night - and resets the body's biochemistry so that gentle, quiet, diaphragmatic breathing predominates.

We also encourage clients to exercise appropriately and to avoid foods that cause them to hyperventilate.

I also introduce my clients to EFT so they can minimise their emotional response to stress in their lives. More info on www.breathconnection.net

Snoring and sleep apnoea are symptoms of over-breathing. Correct the over-breathing and the snoring will reduce. A healthy breather breathes 8-10 breaths/ minute with a resting minute volume of 4-5 litres/ minute. This amount of air passing through the upper airways will ensure restful snore free sleep. By contrast snorers are breathing large volumes of air which can result in a narrowing of the upper airways. Tips such as sleeping on your side, left is best, raising the head and avoiding large meals, and alcohol before bed will all help to reduce breathing volumes. As Simon says a small strip of micro-pore tape is also useful in helping to reduce snoring. However, none of this advice corrects the underlying over-breathing. Like Simon, I suggest anyone who wishes to overcome breathing disorders like snoring, sleep apnoea, asthma or hay fever try the Buteyko breathing programme. For a list of registered practitioners worldwide go to www.buteyko.info

Sleep apnea not only disrupts sleep, but causes low oxygen levels. Think of it like running your car on low oil. Your car still seems to run OK but after a time, the valves go, the rings go and then the engine goes. When you oxygen levels get low, that means your heart gets less oxygen, your brain gets less oxygen and wear out faster. People with untreated sleep apnea just die off early.

Some people think they can't get used to wearing a CPAP mask. Ask youself, could you get used to not snoring, sleeping through the night, waking up refreshed, having more energy, etc. My husband wasn't too keen on wearing the CPAP mask but made a bet to wear it only for 1 month. By the end of the month, when the effects had set in, he told me I had him addicted to it and he felt the best he ever had. In the first year he lost over 100 lbs. Sleep apnea improves with weight loss. Many other aspects improve.

Lastly, maybe half of snorers have nasal obstruction. Instead of a netti pot, I use Neilmed nasal wash. The nasal strips are costly, $1/night. CPAP is cheaper. If congested w CPAP, use heated humidity.

For it pushes the brain and you sleep deeper. Need less sleep. Why is it that many people don't like to be woken up? Because we like to dream. Even if we don't remember them. We have become in need of this respones from our brains. Someone snoring invades this respones. We all meditate when we sleep. What do you think dream are?

The trouble is it's not a conscious meditation. So try brain wave entrainment and push your brain into a alpha or theta state, you will dream a lot and you will get your brain to the point it need every night for health. The snoring of someone else! Upsets one because they have not reach a state of peace and they are jelous of the other person, because they reach it so easy. So if you have a problem with someone else snoring? Maybe the problem is with you not them. If it make you feel better take my word with a grain salt, for I'm only that size in the jist of everything. Have a freat day even if your not having one. Thank Kevin.

Question? Why is it that many of you don't use your real name here? What are you afraid of? One can't make a movement if you hide in shelter.

He eats healthy, is not overweight, doesn't smoke or drink. He mainly sleeps on his back which I know contributes to his snoring. Even if I fall asleep first his snoring has woke me up! So this is not a "solution". Nasal strips seem to make him snore even louder! He has tried just about everything without results.

I usually resort to sleeping with ear plugs, and in the summer, the fan blowing cuts out a lot of the noise. Ear plugs are easy to get used to, especially if you want a good night's sleep!!!!

There bodies are trying there best to become normal again. It's not my fault that they are fat and unheathy. Just because many unheathy people snore does not mean that there are not many heathy snorers. As fore ( golf Please ) grammer I could care less. You got the point and this is not a essay. Thank you! Just because I live, On planet earth doesn't mean i should be good at grammer. I'm good at many other things. This is what makes the planet called earth work.

For one is not everything except for the one and only. Don't be brain washed by everything you hear. If you do then you hear this is good for you then tomorrow it's bad. This is the trouble with the world. It only confounds the brain. Remember the subconscious brain remebers every last detail. The conscious brain maybe the deciding force of what we think, but the sunconscious is the true decider. Thanks again.

One might look at themselves for anger at another person just because they snore. Give me a break. Better yet give yourself one.
