This is a great article. My children are 11 and 9. If I had known 1/2 the things when they were young as I do now, they would have never received antibiotics. Thank God they weren't sick very often. I just pray I can continue to learn more so I can make the best decisions for myself and my family.

Pharmacists are the experts on drugs and don't get the respect they deserve. I was interested to note that some MDs have no more education than is in the curriculum of my Chiropractic college. I sometimes wonder "just what are MDs expert at?".

I know this is really off topic but here I go... My wife is Russian and her Green Card was denied. We tried to reopen the case but after 5 months of waiting they refused to reopen her case. The reason I am writing this here is that there are a lot of really smart open-minded people on this website and I know someone out there at the very least has some good suggestions. However I am already making my game plan on how to live a healthy life in Russia. Does anyone know specifics about how healthy their food is? I have drilled my wife on this but she is not familiar with that vast conspiracy of poisons our governments and corporations throw at us!

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you all Love and Peace...

The best way to protect your children is to keep them off ANY type of medication . Instead you can maintain their health by following the guidelines of good NUTRITION promulgated by Dr. Mercola. But how do you keep kids off soda and candy and cookies and junk food ? Invent ways to make veggies and fruits more palatable to kids. Try various combinations of ingredients to produce delicious dishes based on raw veggies. I have been experimenting and have come up with gourmet style casseroles that include broccoli. cauliflour, garlic, onions, celery, carrots, organic apple cider vinegar, ginger, organic raisins and lime juice plus condiments such as cayenne, turmeric and olive oil (avoid canola). Toss in some Alaska wild salmon and organic sushi rice and you have a meal to die for, your kids will go for, over any baked goods, twinkies or pizza.

Corbinmom, we take uncontaminated, high vitamin Blue Ice cod liver oil (does what Dr. M rec's krill oil for), and here's how I get it in my 9, 6, 3, and soon, 9month olds. "How do you want your Viking Vitamins today? In yogurt, chased with OJ, or straight?" (Every Viking had a vat of fermenting cod livers outside his home, producing the wonderful, vitamin-rich oils) They can suggest other methods, too, if they feel like making a smoothie or smoothie pop from it that day, for example. But there's no choice about *whether* they get it. They get their CLO every day.

My grandmother (71 years old) said that in her NC public school, they were given CLO every morning, every child, at school, no exceptions.

Ifants and children are not just little audults. There bodies recact diverently to trauma, sickness, and medications. They will maintain body functions utill they crash very quikely, and without time to help them.

speaking of doctors,
does DR. mercola or anyone know of a good D.O. or alternative medical doctor in the northwest suburbs of chicago?? i know dr. mercolas wellness center is near me of course. he would be my first choice but i'm on medicare ..i found a list of some D.O.S but don't know anything about them and hate to just pick one out of the book....i really need to find a good doctor who is open to more natural ways of healing. i only go to the one i have because i have no where else to turn..and he's a "pill pusher"

I think some doctors, too, though have gotten to the breaking point. With all the medical advertisements on tv, more and more hypochondriacs walk into the clinics and demand medication. When our one year old had a cold, we took her in and explained to the nurse and the doctor that we didnt' want antibiotics unless they were absolutely necessary - as the doc was finishing up, he was still speaking to us like he assumed we were going to demand a prescription. I know I wouldn't want to be in their shoes..........

I like to call it "Living a Healthy Lifestyle" (Dr. Mercola's Health and diet plan). This way you don't have to worry about taking your kids to the doctor's.

I know whenever I took my children to the Doctor and he gave me a prescription, I would ask what classification it was in and if there were any side effects. I would also ask the pharmacist the same question. I usually received different answers with more details from the pharmacist. And there were time I did not have a prescription filled because it was not needed. I consider the doctor as a helper, when I have done all that I can do and it is not working, then I see the doctor.

Doctors don't even think about or know about or consider natural alternatives to healing before writing a prescription. They don't even discuss the side-effects of prescriptions or consider any side-effects a person experiences as a result of the prescription. Most doctors are clueless on a lot more than prescription drugs for children. They are also clueless on the chemical composition of vaccines and recommending low-fat foods to children.
