You have not "been there" therefore you don't know how people feel and cannot sympathize with the struggle of so many people. And even if you were obese and did happen to lose the weight, it does not mean that anyone else will fit into your nice little box. Our bodies are ALL DIFFERENT. Men lose weight faster then women, women carry their weight differently. What works for one will not work for another and visa versa. I know people who eat cheese burgers and french fries DAILY and they can no more gain weight than most obese people can lose weight eating a bowl of greens. I wish there was one answer for everyone but there is not, so people just need to keep trying different things and eventually you will find what works for YOU.

I feel that if mankind truly ate as genetically as intended (no products tampered, enriched, processes, refined or modified/poisoned) by man that all the drug companies, pharmaceutical companies, Dr’s and other industries as Monsanto would be out of buzz. There sooooooo many ways to live on this planet w/out succumbing to the grip of (eat our junk food then take this pill to fix the long term problem generated by what we made u consume/use). One wishes to lose weight it’s a life style that one must adopt – NOT a “diet”

I see sooooooo many ppl taking, using, consuming what they “feel” is healthy, natural, and claim its good 4 them. When in reality most all products contain a similar base of a set number of chemicals/ingredient. Most ppl I have encountered are missing the boat when it comes to TRUE healthy living.

I love reading things that stated in the Dr's offerings. Altho no one possess 100 % of the answers and most all of us possess variants to our make up (different paths-same goal) But the aspect that the following ad appears on the good Dr’s site raises a serious flag in my mind.

-------------

Exclusive Patented Vitamin K2 Formula is Only Available on Mercola.com

Vitamin K is absolutely essential to build strong bones… and helps promote heart and immune health.* This key vitamin may also help you fight the signs of aging.* Plus, it’s a stronger antioxidant than vitamin E or coenzyme Q10.* You’ll not find this amazing product anywhere else on the Internet!

-------------

As I understand things (correct me if I’m mistaken or read this “patented” product as I do), BUT is possible to patient a natural item (one may posses a proprietarily blend). Altho I may be ill informed on things so I look fwd to your all’s input.

But after reading some of these remarks it sounds like some folks actually believe that the majority of America wants to be overweight, that we lack the courage to help ourselves, that it is so easy to eat right and we just refuse. I have been heavy my entire life, no I did not "eat right" for many years. But the last four years my wife and I have become very health conscious, organic foods, holistic medical doctors, whole food supplements, books, metabolic typing (well at least we paid for it).

The cost of "eating right" and doing the right thing can nearly double a family’s grocery bill and most certainly triple your doctor bills, even though our doctor is a M.D., our only insurance choice chooses not to recognize him or his bills. What they will pay for is a ton of prescription drugs that can actually make it extremely difficult for someone to lose weight as well as adding additional symptoms (skid marks disease).

I managed grocery stores for 20 years, trust me. they don’t care about your health…just the bottom line. Placement of an item depends on who pays the most for shelf space. And if you are savvy enough to see past that and try to purchase healthy items, how do you know if it is good for you. The word “organic” has been abused and has become a joke along with being one of the newest money makers this decade. Many families just can’t afford to do the right things.

OK to my point… I am still heavy, yes healthier but still obese according to the medical guidelines, and it’s not because I am lazy, lacking courage, looking for an easy way out or that I want to be this way! So please think about your comments before you get on your soap boxes and tell folks all you have to do is….. ,

The good doc is selling “Fucothin” and I don’t hear anyone bashing it, is it not a natural plant based diet pill as is Hoodia? Why would you discourage anyone from trying a natural appetite suppressant if it helped them?

You sound educated on the topic of addiction but until you have lived in ones shoes you cannot understand the "hell" that one goes through with addiction to food. I have tried your way of eating....lots of vegies and meat, but it is getting through that withdrawl from the carbs that has to be like abstaining from a drug. I have friends who were alcohol addicted and they said that it was much easier to kick the booze than to stop the viscious cycle of the food. I do believe that the addiction is much more physical than psychological...It is a very complex problem and very difficult to overcome. I never give up and continue to abstain from most carbs especially refined ones and exercise but the weight has always been a problem. Do any of you watch the Biggest Loser? I can relate so much to them. You see the total struggle that they have to get the food thoughts out of their heads! None of us want to make eating our life, we want to live life! Addictive eating is not something that we decide to do...it just happens from making the wrong food choices early on. It's like drinking. It may start out innocently but may progress to something much more difficult to conquer.

It's great for allergies, but is a blood thinner, so its' not recommended to take it for more then 5 days in a row without having a break from it. That said, my brother in law said they always had a pitcher of Brigham Tea in the frig when growing up, and he drank tons of it, with no ill effects. We also have it on hand here, as I can walk outside and pick it. It has straight needles, is a light sagey green, and is very easily identified. It's got a very mild, pleasant taste, so I don't think it's related to Hoodia, but you never know.

I have no appetite but I also have no metabolism. My eating is impeccable and I do a variety of exercises. The result is 60 lbs. of excess weight on less than 1000 calories a day along with daily exercise. Suppressing your appetite is not the answer in the long run. I wish I had never gotten on the diet roller coaster because I am stuck at the top now with no way down.

Hoodia is a great product. No, it does not work on everybody -- like everything else. If you are what I call a "grazer", then yes, it will work for you. If you are not, it won't. Simple. I have been overweight for 15 years now. I'm in the natural health field and I can honestly tell you that I have tried EVERYTHING. I finally realized that my problem is that I actually forget to eat. It has screwed up my metabolism royally, and I am trying to correct that problem. When you only eat one meal/day or forget entirely until the next day, your body actually thinks it's doing you a favor by storing fat for you. Aren't you the lucky one? So, eat 3 meals/day of quality nutrition and the weight may actually start to fall off -- with a little exercise of course, until you can get to a weight where you can exercise more actively. That's my 2 cents worth.

The Bushmen are only receiving a tiny fraction of any profits derived from the commercialisation of this plant (and only through the Phytopharm (Unilever) products. However, due to the interest in this plant (and I can assure you it is not growing in your backyard in Arizona) the plant is being 'poached' and ripped indiscriminately from the desert and not replaced. It is still a necessary resource for the Bushmen and I would urge anyone thinking of taking the commercial product to just eat sensibly and excercise rather than make Unilever richer and the Bushmen and the Kalahari desert poorer.
