I am concerned about the use of aldosterone to treat hearing loss. I read somewhere aldosterone causes kidney stress in that it causes retention of water and salt therby creating that stress. So, am wondering if there are some unsaid precautions necessary to be addressed before using aldosterone.

It also says that having the flu, a bad cold, or a stay in the hospital will drain your zinc reserves. The book recommends taking 30 mg of zinc per day to recover taste and smell. I personally suggest taking Zinc Food Complex by New Chapter usually found in health food stores. This brand of zinc is a whole food supplement which your body can take full advantage of because it is not a synthetic. It is also easy to digest. Some people have a sensitivity to zinc if taken on an empty stomach, so take with food.

I have proven this remedy to work over and over again for taste and smell loss, as well as for getting rid of a metallic taste in the mouth. Avoid refined foods and include meat, nuts, beans, and whole grains. By the way, white spots on your fingernails indicate a zinc deficiency. Hope this information is helpful.

I also got extremely mercury toxic. I'd be willing to try just about anything ( no prescription drugs ) to get relief. I worry about things crossing the "blood-brain barrier" that might pull more toxins into (my poor) brain. Anyone find success with solving this particular problem?

I have applied this to the subject of cancer and found the relevant figure is about 6%. This information is on the CISS website (www.ciss.org.au) under Senate Submission. Part 2 of this submission analyses the efficacy of psychotherapy as an intervention for cancer. Part 3 looks at suppression of alternative cancer therapies.

So 3 patients were helped. Wonderful. The question I have is whether or not 100 other patients were not helped. That is unfortunately not reported here. Nevertheless it is an interesting theory, especially given the fact that I also take Lipitor for my cholesterol

I have hearingloss and tinnitus, my spouse has tinnitus. We are flying next February to Germany, (Bad Fuessing) and see Dr. Wilden. He has treated thousands of patients with laser treatment. His large website is also available in English, Spanish and German. I have contacted some of his patients, (one in California) who spoke very highly of Dr. Wilden as a very caring, genuine pracritioner. Of course there are no guarantees. We believe we have a 60%-80% chance of improvement. http//:www.dr-wilden.de

Please check it out for yourself. I have not found a single person on the net saying anything negative about him.

We will update here when we come back.

Hearing problems are caused in the West mainly from "adrenal burn-out" (Stress and Starbucks).

In the case of elderly people, it is "aged adrenal weakness" (Long Term Fear and Lack of Raw Fats in Diet).

Deep sleep is the best cure for adrenal weakness, followed by lifestyle alterations, sub-conscious reprogramming, and finally nutrition. A blood types need raw vegetable-based fats. O blood-types need raw meat-based fats. Other blood types may have either.

I tried 250 mg on an empty stomach. The flush effect will open all your capillaries, including the ones inside your ear and oxygenize the inner ear. For me, the tinnitus ringing went down with 20 dB in ten minutes. But only if you feel a strong flush effect.

QUESTION: If the hormone Aldosterone affects the sodium-potassium balance, is there another hormone that affects the calcium- magnesium balance in the nerve cells? I am MSG sensitive and that problem is partly caused by calcium-magnesium imbalance.

I had my aldosterone level checked with the Rhein Urinalysis Test and, sure enough, it was low despite a low-sodium diet. At the same time, my other adrenal hormone levels are high, indicating excessive stress, which the doctor said has also impaired my thyroid and repoductive hormone levels. This leads me to suspect that stress is causing the low aldosterone and perhaps the hearing deterioration as Dr. Mercola suggests, as it is causing all of my other health problems. If this is indeed the case, it comes as no surprise that the constant companion of modern life - stress - which insidiously continues to undermine our health could also be responsible for inexplicable, sudden hearing loss by altering levels of aldosterone. I have forwarded this info to my audiologist who fortunately is open to considering alternative causes and solutions.
