Remember the mitichlorians in Star Wars? The second they introduced those into the series, I immediately thought of probiotics. The good guy organisms could make you a powerful Jedi, and overgrowth of the bad guy organisms could turn you into a Sith.

I love the fact that probiotics have become trusted and looked up to.

Now, I would love to see people learn to make it on their own.

My husband Jan takes a stock pot and adds a couple of gallons of raw cows milk from our local farmer...who is as organic as you can get!) You can use whole milk from anywhere, we like our raw milk.

He then takes the milk and brings it to a hot temperature and then lets it cool down to room temp.

Then he adds a tablespoon of yogurt from the last batch...( if you are starting out, get a plain yogurt with LIVE ACTIVE CULTURES) Lazy and dead do not work.

After adding the tablespoon he fills the jar...usally an old pickle size jar and closes the lid.

He then puts the jars into hot water from the tap and lets it sit there for a few hours. He checks it once or twice but for the most part he leaves it alone.

After it has become thick and good we put them into the refrigerator and that is that.

If there is a time when the process does not work, he takes a couple of capsule from the fridge and put them in with the works. It purkes it right up and we go back to our wonderful batches.

I love to drink a drink in the morning using his yogurt and milk. some times I add apple juice or apples or what ever you want to put in there. It is a smoothy I guess. One thing I learned to do that I love...I add a pinch of Himalayan Sea Salt I grind form chunks ( that is the only way to buy it, it costs less. Or go to a Pakistani or Hindu store and ask for Sea Salt and make sure to ask where it comes from. If they say it is not Himalayan ask if it comes from one of the other mountain ranges close by...same horse different saddle.

Ok, I could go on and on, but I hope that helps to get us all just a bit closer to leaving the yogurt brand names alone and trusting our own ability to go back to natural.

Keifer milk is good too!

Healthy New Year

NieeMA
