I live in a very small town and drove 230 miles to Reno, NV to try and find toys made in the USA and not China, I went to 6 large name brand stores and could NOT find ONE toy not made in China! It made me very sad. I'm about ready to start making toys out of cardboard boxes, oh wait, I'm sure there are now bad chemicals in them too! Makes me sad that we have taken a wonderful world God created and gave to us and polluted it and us. I try to buy organic food, natural cleaners, and such but when it comes to my kids I can't find safe toys. That is wrong.

My grandaughter (4 1/2 yo) has been experiencing some odd tremors in her left hand. This is her dominant side. A Ct scan showed no brain anomalies. They did a EEG no results yet. Can this be a symptom of lead or some other poisoning caused by tainted toys? Thank You, Donna

As a mother of five I spent a lot of time this chiristmas seeking quality toys and gifts that were made in the US. There are actually some great companies that produce beutiful stuff, some in our own state of Michigan. But in talking to several of the company owners, they do most of their sales overseas, because Americans would rather buy the $10.00 block set from A box store (from China) than the $40.00 set made in our back yard using safe, quality products and services. Unforturnately, it seems most americans don't want to know that there are better options out there- whether it's food, healthcare, toys or education. Most would rather have 4 cheap, dangerous toys thatn one good one. If you have children, look for "toys made in the USA" online. There are a lot of links.

There are SO many places where you can still find lead. My son was lead poisoned and we have made it our mission to let people know where lead lurks. For instance, did you know that it is used in artificial food and cosmetic coloring? Perhaps that's another reason so many children have success with the Feingold diet. In addition, our son was lead poisoned from our dinnerware that we purchased from a local department store. It was marked for use as dinnerware and we were unaware that up to 3.0 ppm is allowed in dinnerware. Ours was over the amount and I contacted the FDA for a recall and were unable since they are no longer sold!

I was dissapointed to learn that the pots and pans reccomended on this site are made in China. We were going to buy them as a wedding gift but have been boycotting China for several years. We will stick with AllClad...even if they are not as healthy.

My answer is the government abuse to all of us. When the world trade agreement was made we did not put any good agency in place to test product the FDA is all we have but congress under budget them where they don't have funds to do their job. we as concern citizen need to protest to congress on these matter we need to make ourselves more involved in things to do with this country.In order to get anything done in the USA is to get at least 1 million signature to congress to act on what we need done No one will do anything unless this happen I tried we are still WE THE PEOPLE HERE in the United States.VA failed the troops.FDA has failed the children and adults.Lead has been found in lipstick and toys both children and adults are poison here.We need to get our voices herd by all. This is an obvious hot topic and my concern is not only the toys with lead, but what about the toothpaste, pet foods and who knows what else that has contamination from China? The USA is a hated country by many. We need to wake up and start making our consumer products in the USA again!

I find it sad that we have to watch out for everything. I feel almost paranoid anymore. Now that I am aware of what's in the foods, toys, clothes, everything - I feel NUTS! I really make an effort to go as natural/organic as possible, especially with food, personal hygene items and cleaners. When you read the lables it's just amazing....

It's unfortunate that so many people blame China for the hazarous items in the US. I blame the companies that are sending the manufacturing to China, and our US government for not fighting to keep those jobs here in the US. The US government has sold us out - we lose our good paying manufacturing jobs and in return we get toxic items and more poor people in this country. Pray tell me...why do we grow brussel sprouts here in the US only to export those to China, then we import ours from Canada?? Let's keep what we need for our people, export any excess or just part of what we grow and only import what we really need to import??

Ok - ranting done....*sigh*.....it's so very sad that less than a century ago the US was so very self sufficent...and now we can't grow our own food or make our own toys and clothes.....

I am interested in what our country is doing to protect our Children from the contaminated toys mfr. in China and I have also discovered another issue. My dog has become ill numerous times and I have traced it to his plastic squeaky toys (mfr. in China) and just on Christmas day he became ill from a plush toy (mfr. in China). I want people to be aware of this hazard.

Please get the word out.

Hmmm dont forget the jet fuel that is found in cow's milk from drinking tainted water and chemicals from non-stick pans and viagra and every other medication people are taking being found in our drinking supply. I cant remember which of these and others can be found in the womb of most pregnant women. And how come you never here of the studies where the chemicals in plastic feminized male rats.

For goodness' sake, we in New Zealand (and Australia) have standards as high or higher than yours! And how about Canada? Civilisation and high standards do not begin and end in the US or Europe.

Man, after reading all of these comments - not only regarding this topic - but ALL of the things we need to avoid in our society - in order to be safe or healthy - it almost seems better to be dead !! It's like you need to live in some little glass bubble to avoid all the evils that are upon us !! I mean, what's next ???? I agree you need to be aware of all of these things - yet, its seems like it NEVER ENDS !! It's always something (if its not the big drug companies shoving drugs down everyone's throat on the planet, its the media spewing untruths about staying out of the sun and slathering on sunscreen, to doctors looking at you like you are from another planet when you tell them you don't want to vaccinate your children any longer, to dentists also giving you the 'are you crazy' look when you say you don't want the fluoride treatments that 'every other child' gets, to public government schools corrupting the kids with more untruths....to the fish filled with mercury, the meat and milk contaminated with growth hormones and antibiotics, to the veggies/fruits we eat laden with pesticides, to the water in the tap filled with chlorine, fluoride and a host of other contaminants and parasites...WHAT IS THERE NOT TO BE AFRAID OF ANYMORE ???? It would be easier to hide under a rock and just wither away....is life even worth living when daily life assaults you every way you turn ?? Am I the only one out there who is feeling this stress ?!!!!?!?!?!?!?
