Dr. Ancel Keys published an influential paper comparing fat intake and heart disease mortality in six countries: the United States, Canada, Australia, England, Italy, and Japan.
Some humans may have adapted slightly to carbs. But the basics of our digestion do not vary a bit. It is the same digestive system from when we were primarily meat-eaters throughout our history and evolution. There is no reason any human cannot still thrive on predominantly meat, including raw meat. Where is one study that shows that saturated fat is bad for anyone? Where is one study that shows that high levels of insulin does NOT correlate with health problems in anyone?

It is dangerous to even suggest that even a small group of people can tolerate carbs, because of course, everyone will assume themselves to be in that group. It is a natural defect of ours to receive pleasurable effects from carbs- I've just had to come to terms with that. It does not make them good for your health. Everyone has the capacity to switch from burning glucose to burning fats and ketones for fuel, and there's no reason why they shouldn't.

I finally found local raw milk and cream, and I had a dream last night about making raw butter!

All day I have been thinking about making it.

Really!!!

I was going to check my e-mail this morning, but didn't want to be late for class.

I don't believe this logic should be applied to western couch potatoes who at best get 1 hour of exercise per day. Nomads on the other hand are constantly on the move...

So unless you're also ready to live like a Masai and drink cow's blood too, I would stay away ....

By the way, here's another article on MSNBC that says just the opposite from the above:

Have read all of the above. I am a type II diabetic and thank goodness not taking any meds for it. Took meds in the beginng but through reducing carbs to less than 20 mg a day and sticking to veggies and proteins and absolutely no sugar at all got my sugar down to 110 from 418. I also took a statin to reduce my cholesterol from 356 to 75 inside of 2 1/2 months. Now went off the statins as well and within two months my choelsterol LDL shot back up to 135 and my doctor said I absolutely had to go back on the statins. She did reduce the dosage from 40mg to 20mg a day. But what do I do now. Someone please email me who knows whats they are talking about.

Having gone the gamut of vegetarian and low fat, I am now indulging very sattisfactorily in a Raw/natural foods diet. This includes the consumption of raw (unpasteurized) milk, butter, cheese and honey, and eating eggs from free range chickens, and meat from grass-fed poultry and beef. Where I previously suffered from acute digestive problem, I no longer experience acid reflux. I am gradually incorporating semi-raw meat into my diet as well, and find that it is so easily disested, and has eliminated my previous problem with lactose intolerance. I'm 'brewing' and enjoying Kefir, which is made with raw milk. I've never enjoyed such good heath, and would highly recommend such a wholesome diet!

Does anyone know if this is correct please?

I have been telling people that fat is the most important food that we eat for many years{I am 79}. Also that dietery cholesterol actually has no effect on blood cholesterol levels and is probablly indigestable which is why the liver makes it in the firsd place. Most important is also the fact that the curren epidemic of secondary diabetes now hitting skinny children as low as age 7 is related to the wide spread use of poly unsaturated vegetable oils which louse up the cell membrane and prevent insulin from opening the "door" to allow glucose in to the cell! Another one is the obsesion with chicken skin as being bad when it happens to be one of the best sources of collegen which prevents arthritis and joint problems! Skim milk only makes money for the dairy industry and cheats us from a very healthy food especially if its not homeginized or pasteurized! I could go on and on. Poor Atkins never got the recognition that he really deserved!

I eventually had to get rid of the appliance because it became icky sticky like gum residue that cannot be totally removed. About two years ago I bought a new waffle maker nonstick of course for occasional treat. I had started using coconut oil for cooking after reading an article about its beneficial effects in the body. I started using coconut oil to brush the waffle maker and there is no trace of gummy residue in my new appliance at all . I also use coconut oil to oil my cast iron cookware to protect it from rusting. Coconut oil worked perfectly no signs of rust or gumminess. Conclusion? If it is bad for my appliance it must be detrimental to my body.

However, to clear up one misconception, Dr. Keys original report was misinterpreted by the media, and he produced another research report about 10 years later in hopes that it would correct the misinterpretation -- but he media and food companies didn't want to hear it!

The original study, besides comparing different countries' fat intake also tried to break down the fat sources. The media ignored the different fat sources.

His second study emphasized that the differences in disease rates in different countries were correlated with the vegetable oils (primarily polyunsaturated fats -- corn, soy, rapeseed, sunflower oils) and not the saturated fats (animal fats and tropical oils). But nobody listened.
