In some cases, the true contents of what’s put into your meals at restaurants (both fast-food and sit-down) are shocking. In others

re: 16 Secrets the Restaurant Industry Doesn't Want You to Know

I C ame to this site...:-) to read and share, apart from fee, and "special/preciousness, we who choose not,or can not afford, to join shall remain on the outer edge ..

so?? whats different? and that is the same thing! thats happening with food ,drugs ,home toxic products , whatever, if you can think, have more money etc you can afford to avoid at least some of the crap.

Home economics many years ago taught young kids to cook and schedule a meal, that was withdrawn due to cost?? hmm? so education in food nutrition, caloric advice etc became a non core subject?? available If? parents paid more cost, not a necessary subject.iIam nearing 50, my friends only 5 years younger think a cake comes from a packet mix, if not ready made. a packet mix made in your home is NOT a homemade cake, it is home cooked product. no one i know can cook anything without a book to copy from, i despair! i make everything from scratch, use a recipie to read , (not to follow slavishly the exact amount or ingredients.)for any major exotic meals..once! and i produce about 4 times as much good filling nutritious food for my friends at the cost of feeding 2 at a takeaway. and it won't harm them..ok the 1000 calorie a slice almond honey and semolina cake is not exactly low cal,:-) but a small! serve will suffice! if a recipie says serves 12, (as long as it's not Nouvelle muck, it will usually serve 16 in a more responsible sized portion. i heard some idiot woman say she "couldn't afford" to home cook from basics as it cost too much, on a aussie radio show, i almost choked! mind you for the last year or so apples here cost up to 7.99 au a kilo, ( a kg gives maybe 4 to 5 apples) 1 pie worth- just! serves say 8? ad pastry $1, cooking $1 =$10. 1.25 a serve you can buy meat for the same or less per k. why? the Stupor-markets have tied fruit growers into nasty for farmers price deals and cornered the market, forcing small fruit/veg shops to go broke. Good food takes some effort, just do it!;-)

The people start to line up for it at 11 o'clock and often by noon the food is all gone. It's a big hit with all the city workers. For the most part it is very difficult to find food that is not processed. Some of the steak houses serve fresh cooked food, but they are very expensive. Few people remember that a special use to be a item that was close to it's expiration and they needed to cook it up and sell it that day.

I thought I was eating right, until I started keeping record.s...I was lucky to be eating 50% raw daily. Since, I became aware...I have boosted it up to 90%.

Without enzymes the vitamins and minerals in food can't be assimilated. When food is heated over 120 degrees...the enzymes are destroyed. Perhaps, if people ate raw meat - it would have some value (if it didn't also contain billions of unhealthy bacteria). However, as soon as meat is cooked, all kinds of free radicals are created...which thinking people wouldn't want.

Animal products are high in protein.and fat..and the powers that be in this country - that are selling foods have set our protein, fat and carb standards far too high.

Americans are not too healthy, because they have been misled by those who stand to gain financially through our food choices.

I tried eating a high protein diet years ago with very negative results; unnatural cells at every check up; lethargy; weight out of control; colds and sore throats, etc. I was following Adele Davis's recommendations of 100+ grams of protein daily.

Today I eat 25-30 grams of protein daily (this is mainly fruit and vegetables...flax seeds...coconut milk...

and occasionally some eggs. No colds or sore throats for years...weight under control...no physical problems what-so-ever at 74. How many could get up and do a 26.2 mile marathon without any training? I did it to celebrate my 70th birthday on a 90 degree day.

The reason that people aren't given a realistic daily amount of protein, fat, carbs and sodium...the Food Industries need to sell product and healthy people won't need the Sickness Industry.

Though many of us see nothing wrong with private schools this in turn means the death of public schools, and a further widening of the gap between the haves and the have nots.

No we do not as citizens see this as a health problem, but it really is a health problem, and it eventually effect us all. More taxes charged to those who have so that the have nots can just survive. Things such as medical care will go up even further, because the system is so over burdened.

Big corporations know this and back the dumbing down of Americans, because all they are interested in is money. So naturally if you are uneducated, or ill educated you are unable to make a wise decision, and therefore unable to muttle through the mis-information big corporations dabble in.

You see it is like illegal drugs, the individuals who first imported these dangerous chemicals sought to sell this garbage to only the poor, or Black people, or Latins. The truth is illegal durgs did not stay in the ghettos alone. The garbage spread, to everyone. Same will eventually happen with the rotten food corporate America pushes like illegal drugs. Eventually it will effect everyone.

My acquaintances are unhappy with my actions and said I should have simply eaten my meal and then just never return to the establishment. MY NUTRITION IS MY HEALTH!!!

Especially here. I mean, who out there is reading this and shouting "WHAT?!?! Baskin Robbins doesn't use REAL blue raspberries and fresh citrus juice and agave nectar in my favorite drink?! Scandalous!"

While I believe it's irresponsible of restaurant companies not to be able to furnish an ingredient declaration to consumers (what of food allergies/sensitivities, etc.?) for their menu items, I think the issue of what and how much one eats at a restaurant is largely a matter of personal responsibility. Restaurants are capitalizing on what America wants when they go out, and sadly they seem to want garbage and lots of it regardless of whether it's detrimental to them or not.

Now I must be off to make dinner!
