I'll be the first to turn blue then according to the blue smurf guy , who probably is happy with his lump sum from the pharma, cause i drink like 1 cup almost every other day. Lies will not deter me, and neither will this "news" about this natural element's ability to cause "cytokine storms"... lol....

Look up Dr. Robert Bob Beck people, learn the truth and suppressed information, clearly it never ceases to amuse me of the scare tactics that we all fall for, Dr. Mercola, while I do acknowledge your wisdom on many things, I definitely disagree with your view that colloidal silver is dangerous, it is perfectly safe but then again I understand that if you were to make claims about it, your career and license would be on the line.

Do any of you know if silver is effective against tetanus? This evening, my son cut his knee on a nail that was sticking out of a neighbor’s fence. It left a cut that was 5/8ths of an inch wide. It is showing the subcutaneous (fatty tissue) layer underneath.

I called a pediatric nurse and they were, of course, saying “Take him to an E.R., get him a tetanus shot, probably some antibiotics, and maybe some glue or sutures.”

I am very concerned about getting him that tetanus shot, but tetanus is a serious disease and this is a deep wound. He had the four rounds of tetanus vaccine when he was a baby through age 14 months or so; however, they recommend a booster every 5 years. He’s now 8 1/2 years old, and we don’t vaccinate. We stopped vaccinating all of our children when he was about 3.

I was looking up some things online about colloidal silver. Some random sites I’ve ran across say that in rabbits it killed off up to ten times the lethal dose of tetanus. I don’t know what that translates to in humans though.

Soooooo, we decided to put the silver on the wound topically and are giving the silver to him orally every few hours. We closed the wound with a butterfly bandage and it has closed nicely. Because it’s on his knee, we made a splint to keep his knee from bending so that it will not pop off the butterfly.

If this were your child, would you get him that tetanus booster or do you think the silver will do the trick? I am very concerned about the ingredients in the tetanus vaccine, but yet, I don’t want to be so “anti-vaccine” that I miss a genuinely important time to use one, if there is such a time. I can always detox him later on with some chlorella or spirulina, if I have to.

Let me know what you think. If I need to, I can take him in tomorrow morning to get that tetanus booster and possible antibiotic.

I had suffered with sinus infections for about 10 years. I'd always be fine in the spring and summer but would get the infections almost constantly in the fall and winter. My family doctor would prescribe an antibiotic and I'd get over the infection but would soon get it back. Eventually, it got to the point where I'd get better after being on the antibiotic for a few days but then would feel sick again. It was then that I decided that I was quitting the antibiotics. A friend got me to try colloidal silver, and am I ever glad that I did! I spray it in my nose when I get up in the morning and when I go to bed at night. I've gone from having at least 8 sinus infections down to having one this entire fall and winter and that was over 3 months ago. Since I don't have trouble with my sinuses in the spring and fall, I won't use the silver then. Then I'll start back up the beginning of October and continue until the beginning of April. I had always dreaded winter, and now that I've been using the silver, it's made so much of a positive change in my life!

I'm amazed at how many folks (the prime one being Dr M himself) are blissfully in the dark about the new nano form of silver sol that the US PatOfc lists as killing 59 pathogens including malaria, bird flu, 18 varieties of strep & staph, MRSA, bubonic, Hep b, etc.Below are a few facts that have commended it to me after using it successfully on my own Lyme disease. Please don't respond to this post until you do your homework. Download US Patent 7135195 for some facts--this product differs from the old CS in a number of ways, including its missing two electrons which makes it's MOA (actually four distinct MOAs) like a machine gun compared to the old rifle-like (single shot) CS. CS is good, safe (except for idiots like Kerason, big pharma's latest poster boy) and the silver sol holds the potential of obsoleting fully eighty percent of antibiotics, a rather significant fact not overlooked by the ad agencies of big pharma. Anyway, here you go:

-It works well w most Chemo treatments, unless they are salt-based, in which case the charge of the salt is the opposite of the silver and cancels effectiveness when taken in close sequence. (less than two hours)

-Wounds heal in roughly half the time, with topical application.

-Sunburn pain goes away instantly, tho the redness does not. Excellent effects at pain many receptors.

-A topical gel is available as well for skin and other use. A six minute application is sufficient , some issues take longer;repeat in that case five times per day.

-Stronger is not better. A 10-15 ppm formulation works as well as or better than 30 parts per million.(CS often has 300-3000ppm)

-Can be taken as a preventive, or as pathogen killer for cure.

-A small amount in dirty water purifies it (NASA has used silver for years on the shuttle) and swimming pool mfgs as a substitute for chlorine.

- fogging a Boeing 747 for 22 minutes was successful in completely disinfecting interior with NO TOXIC RESIDUE

I've been takeing colloidal silver for 5 months now and haven't had a problem at all. I think the true colloidal silver doesn't turn your skin blue because it's only when there is protien in it. I take a 500ppm. Made in Germany from Herbal Healer Acadamy

Silver ions = broad spectrum germicidal, primarily for bacteria, some viruses, less fungi.

Colloidal silver made improperly, coupled with over-use, causes Argyria.

Improper includes:

Impure silver as source;

Impure water as fluid;

contamination from other things, either in process or during use and storage.

I disagree with assumption that "blue-blooded nobility" was due to using silver eating utensils, UNLESS they used implements alloyed with base metals!

One canNOT turn blue from using sterling silver eating implements, anymore than from properly prepared and used colloidal silver!

I share with everyone:

Safe, effective [helps prevent most usual infections] body levels of silver can be achieved

by simply using a genuine, sterling silver spoon to eat with each day.

Many people come and tell me that they use colloidal silver, some even spraying it all over their bodies every morning. When you research it on the internet, all you find is the cry "and there are absolutely no side effects!" That, in itself, is suspicious. What I tell these people is that silver is a heavy metal, and to think about what the other heavy metals, such a gold, mercury and lead can do to the body and take it from there. Most don't listen though. I think we will see many more problems related to the use of colloidal silver in the future, but this one was definitely one of the most bizarre. It amazes me what people will do to themselves in the name of healthcare.

The Environmental Protection Agency's Poison Control Center reports no toxicity listing for Colloidal Silver; it is therefore considered harmless in any concentration. However all of the silver salts are identified as toxic, although the only adverse effect noted is Argyria. Therefore the concern is with silver salts not Colloidal Silver.

Part1: I've been collecting information about colloidal silver for some time; here is something folks may find interesting. I don't know who the author is.

The term Argyria describes the condition of a bluish gray color of the skin, and Argyosis the bluing of the eye white, resulting from the use of SILVER COMPOUNDS. To better understand the misconception regarding Argyria, I will quote from the book "The Micro Silver Bullet”™ by Dr. M. Paul Farber 1996 page XII (ISBN 1-887742-00-X) In reference to a "Journal of American Medical Association" article, October 18 1995, volume 274 # 15, where cases of Argyria were cited to have been caused by silver compounds (not colloidal silver, but silver mixed with other metals), note:

"These Case history presentations represent biased and unprofessional writing. The author's apparent inability to understand the difference between a silver nitrate, sulfide, or other silver compound demonstrates their lack of understanding of basic chemical properties. The matrix, substrate, and particle size are all critical to the varied functions and reactions with use of these products. That is why there has not been a single case of Argyria from a properly manufactured modern-day colloidal silver product. [editors emphasis] The cases of Argyria reported in the 1920's and 1930's resulted because the technology of the day was unable to produce a pure colloidal silver product with a small enough particle size." Ref. (4-A)

The reported cases of Argyria usually involved very high and frequent doses over extended periods of time of silver salts/compounds such as silver sulfate, silver nitrate, silver chloride, etc.

It is our understanding that some of your distributors and customers have recently been asking questions about the safety of silver in your product based on a recent advance notice of proposed rule-making by the Food and Drug Administration.

Recent comments contributed by this institute to the FDA in response to its proposed rule-making point out that silver is a dietary supplement under the meaning of 21 U.S.C. Section 321 (ff), if it is labeled as a dietary supplement and not labeled for therapeutic use. Under this section of the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, known as the dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994, a dietary supplement, including a mineral, intended to supplement the diet, and intended for ingestion, and labeled as a dietary supplement may not be prohibited from being marketed unless the product "presents a significant or unreasonable risk of illness or injury" when consumed in accordance with its recommended or suggested labeling or under ordinary conditions of use.

In this regard, you should be advised that we recently completed an extensive review of the scientific literature on the safety of silver, especially as it relates to its one known potential side effect, namely, Argyria. Argyia is an irreversible discoloration of the pigment (skin) caused by excessive silver intake or chronic exposure to silver by certain tissues. The amount of silver required to develop Argyria is estimated to be 3.8 grams per day. Humans consume approximately 100 micrograms of silver every day in the diet. Additional amounts within this range would be considered safe by all reasonable estimates, especially if the amount needed to develop Argyria would be equivalent of 380,000 micrograms (or 3.8 grams) of silver a day.

As for the efficacy of silver preparations, we found considerable scientific evidence published over the last 75 years that a number of silver compounds can be effective germicidal (antiseptic) agents against several hundred pathogenic organisms. However, silver is not termed an antibiotic as some have claimed because an antibiotic by definition is derived from a living organism.

I hope this information is of assistance. We appreciate the concerns expressed at this time by some of your distributors and customers based on the recent proposed rule-making of the FDA. However, that rule-making seems directed at OTC drug-like silver preparation, products that contain magnitudes of silver greater than might be found in a normal colloidal silver product.

FYI, "argyria" (blue skin) is NOT POSSIBLE with a TRUE colloidal silver product. I know, because we have been making our own TRUE colloidal silver for over 10 years, using a $600 CONSTANT-CURRENT unit, which guarantees true colloid-sized nanoparticles of molecular silver. Using myself as a test subject, I drank 750ml of our own CS (15 PPM) every day for a month, with absolutely NO undesirable side effects. If this massive "overdose" of TRUE CS did not induce "argyria", I suggest that no normal amount would, either, whether applied topically or ingested.

Dr. Mercola, you have done your immense readership a great disservice by lending the authority of your name and reputation to this 100% FALSE report. TRUE colloidal silver is 100% SAFE, very CHEAP, and proven effective against over 650 separate pathogens, INCLUDING MRSA, EBOLA, and H5N1 (avian flu). I don't think silver causes the blue skin, I think it's chemical changes over a period of time that depends on each individual. If silver turned the skin blue then other substances should have the same types of effects on the skin appearance over time. Maybe that silver is a catalyst but it should no more turn the skin blue than spirulina will turn the skin green. So I suppose if I drink gold at 10+ ppm I'll turn yellow? I think that no one really knows the answer which is more truthful.

BTW, the photo probably is worse than he really looks, consider he's wearing a blue shirt over a blue shirt which would just heighten the color in the photo (which I find really odd that's he'd wear blue too). Also the comment about the move from Oregon to Calif might favor acceptance is strange. No, there's also a lot of nutballs in Oregon too. Besides photos tend to cause a shine anyway especially when shown on the net. I'm very skeptical of this whole thing. Pay anyone enough money and voila a scam starts.

If remotely true then I agree with the poster that heavy metal detox or (see link above) methylene blue could work. He's an idiot but that doesn't mean it can't be solved.

But just like the story about Tom Brady(NE Pats) actually throwing a football at Marsha Brady (on the sitcom/nose break) and then getting fired as a child actor was a hoax many people actually believed it. It's like really believing Lance Armstrong won seven consecutive Tour's rising from a mediocre middle of the pack rider to a superstar after curing/defeating cancer and hooking up with Bristol-Myers-Squibb. Let's see, cancer, drugs, Big Pharma, billions in drug profits, superstar athlete does what no one ever did before because everyone else was just dumb. I think he gave it away after 3 in a row, too greedy. Sure I'm a believer.
