Some questions to ponder:

Do we really believe that the devaluation of the dollar is a not a natural economic occurrence?

Why is it so important that our standard of living be higher than everyone else in the world?

Why is it so important that the dollar be the standard?

Do we believe that humanity has evolved to the point where the genocides in Germany, Ruwanda, etc., will not happen again?

Is George Bush to blame, the American ego, or is this the natural evolution of man's psyche?

Will the Chinese be the next to fall in love with power and consumption?

Will the earth live long enough to see the Chinese come to power?

Is the concept of original sin the real culprit, as evidenced by societies rising and falling by repeating the same human frailties throughout history?

Will mankind ever, ever, change it's hopes from I/We to You/They, or is our ephemeral nature the real achilles heal?

Are Ron Paul, the military, health food, Jim Mercola, the mighty dollar, or Barach Obama the answer?

If the wealthiest people in the world, all of them, spent more time in prayer, would that make a difference?

Do we think that as people strive more and more for personal gain that they spend more and more time in prayer, or less and less?

Is it hopeless, or is there hope?

It is good to know there are others out there. We so want to do something but my husband and I feel so hopeless. My friend writes articles for the New American and said I just need to keep writing letters. Those politicians respond with rhetoric. Anyway, I'm a volunteer for Ron Paul's campaign. Somehow we must get someone running this country that doesn't answer to the CFR! Hard to help when you both are so busy just trying to keep everyone fed, the cars running and the house over your head. Guess thats the plan, keep us distracted while they take away everything.

One of the issues that everyone seems to scip over is the fact that the North American Union is right around the corner, combining the US with Mexico and Canada. The money system will be changing to the Amero.

In order to change the currency, they have to relinquish the old system...the US dollar. The present system has to end before a new one is in place.

In other words...the whole fall is being orchestrated on purpose!

This is so sad. Publishing Arab propaganda as the truth is a real disservice. The dollar is not dying. During the 1980s the dollar fell and then recovered, this time will be no different. This process of trade driven currency adjustment will cause some manufacturing to move back onshore and will partially dampen the rate of outsourcing. A new government and perspective in Washington will realign our national priorities and provide a more sound basis on which to proceed to fundamental reforms necessary to address 1) the funding of future retiree benefits, 2) distortions in the markets for healthcare and education that cause these sectors to experience above normal rates of inflation and 3) a fresh look at the actual gains from trade and appropriate metrics for entering into long term trade agreements.

As a nation we are uniquely positioned demographically to remain the dominant economic and military power in the 21st Century. Our former adversaries, Russia and China, have huge demographic issues that are nor easily addressed in a generation. It could take a century or more for Russia to recover from population decline. China's one child policy has created a demographic crisis that will begin to hit them hard around 2030 as there will be chronic labor shortages. Europe and Japan will suffer as well as they begin to depopulate through birthrates well below replacement. The US by contrast has a birthrate well above replacement and will have sufficient labor to continue economic growth through the end of the 21st Century.

I have been seeing this discussion various places on the internet. I have started studying the depression and history of recessions. I learned that even at the HEIGHT of the great depression, unemployment went only as high as 24.9 percent. There were plenty of folks who were fine. History tells us that when the stock market crashed that stock brokers started jumping out of windows on Wall St. Do you know the facts about how MANY actually jumped?? ONE. Yes..one.

Let me also revisit the last great foretold disaster...Y2K. It was to be the end of the world. Well>>?

I think the truth to all this lies somewhere between the two extremes.

It is so sad to see our country falling apart. Allowing illegal people cost us untold billions, allowing foreigners enter this country and take our jobs like they are allowing the Indians and Chinese...what happened to America taking care of thier own. Our children won't even have room to have their own children while we "let others make a better life for their children". That is just wrong. Look at who are the inmates in our jails and who are the ones committing the crimes...All Mexicans are not these sweet kind people who are just trying to make a better life. In Northern CA they are turning our cities into gang havens just like the Cubans did to Florida and they continue to allow it. We have enough poor of our own...we don't need to import poverty. WE have to pay for these people and unless Americans stand up and say something, this country will be Chinese soon. They are invading us from within. So are the Arabs...It's all about money and the huge corporations. They are the new Hitlers of the world. They are destroying our way of life and if we don't do something soon, it will be too late if it isn't already

I agree with what you are saying here; Ayn was hypocritical. I met her cohort during a lecture, the married man she had an affair with while she was married and proclaiming that they were special so their spouses should put up with it. It is hard to reconcile her brilliance in economic and philosophical realms, while knowing she did not mind hurting those that loved her most. But her books and ideals were from her personal experience in being born and raised in Russia so she had experience with the propaganda that we Americans seem to not notice.

Einstein was abusive to his wife, but he still contributed greatly to the science community.

It is interesting how "Atlas Shrugged" showed the collapse of the industrialized system way back then. I have met few people who finished the book, let alone heard of it. It is easier in life to do what is right there in front of you, be it using cell phones or eating fast food. It would be nice if there were an alternative society to life on the grid. But I have a feeling that might be as much of a threat as Jesus was to the government in his time, and that an alternative society would be hunted down and arrested for something or other.

Why should the dollar have any value? We are in a country where one needs a prescription to buy a chemical free bed, or selling raw milk in the farmer's market is no longer allowed, which happened here in Clear Lake/NASA, TX recently. Vitamin and mineral supplements are slated to be radiated to make sure they are 'clean', though codex might deny our rights to even buy supplements without a prescription. Finding a doc who felt vitamin and mineral supplements were necessary to counteract our gmo plants, cloned animal meats, microwaved frozen dinners, would be a problem.

People cannot walk down the streets or in the grocery store without a blue tooth attached to their ears. I would not expect such a society to move toward health or economic sanity.

In an age of progress and loads of quickly available information, and vast amounts of money spent on research resulting in more Big Pharm drugs, my parents and grandparents lived longer lives without chronic illness that is plaguing the baby boomer vaccine/biowarfare lab animals. So progress is not helping us, it is being commandeered and used to enslave us and shorten our lives, after our consumer-usefulness has waned.

As a Canadian Muslim mom, I commend Dr.Mercola for 80% of his views on a variety of important issues that all of us as human beings face in today's toxic world. I believe that every superpower will have its decline after a period of glory and the writing has been on the wall for decades regarding the demise of the U.S.'s world dominance. I worry about the future for Canadians since our economies are weaved so tightly together, no thanks to Bush's poodle, our Prime Minister, Stephan Harper. Maybe we as Canadians should start investing in Euro's right away?!
