If the government fails, you can't take your business elsewhere, or even get your money back.

If a politicians fails, you can't fire him or her. Of course . . .

You're told you can get rid of mis-performing politicians at the next election, but the electoral game is so rigged that trying to replace an incumbent, or an establishment favored candidate, is almost impossible. And even when it does happen it's always "meet the new boss, same as the old boss."

So why shouldn't government fail? Why shouldn't politicians blunder? They bear no risk and pay no cost for doing so. In fact, they benefit from failure because they can use it as an excuse to grab more power and money.

The incentives are all wrong.

Our idea is to change the incentives -- to raise the cost politicians pay for doing bad things -- and thereby change their behavior.

I agree with Ron Paul on many issues, but Mike Huckabee is the only limited government candidate that can communicate the message. As far as health, he encourages individual responsibility, wellness and preventive care not big gov't, socialist health care. As far as wealth and freedom, he strongly supports the Fair Tax that would eliminate the American IRS/gestapo and allow Americans to keep what they earn. It would also cause us to prosper as a nation because it eliminates the embedded tax on goods and frees up wealth to save and invest and enjoy the pursuit of happiness. If Mike is not the candidate I will vote Constitution Party.

This election as all others will be greatly influenced (understatement) and manipulated by the media. I watched the Obama-Clinton debate last night as I like to be informed and get my info directly from the candidates as oppose to the spin the media puts on it. The one thing that keeps popping into mind is that should we elect McCain or anyone running Republican we will get a continuation of what we now have. McCain has stated we may be in Iraq "for 100 years or so", showing he has no plans to get us out of that mess anytime soon. I don't care if its Republican or Democrat, if the candidate doesn't promise me a change in everything we're dealing with right now, he/she will not get my vote. (I voted for both Bush candidates, but would never do it again) Ron Paul would make a great President but the media is not going to allow him to get anywhere. He would be a President with this country's interest and well being as primary, a President of the people. Big businesses are pumping BIG money into every effort to keep people like Ron Paul. . . people they can't buy out of the White House.

I thank Dr. Mercola for bringing Ron Paul to my attention. I wouldn't have known to take the time out to listen to his views, otherwise. They caught me off guard, but he won me over by the logic of his arguments. I appreciate that he doesn't just tell you what you want to hear so you'll vote for him.

As for his being "anti-choice:"

I am against abortion because I am against slavery. I don't believe one human being can own the life of another- and that is what abortion is about. It's not about "choice" at all. I find it abhorrent that, having so recently torn off our own shackles to be recognized as full human beings, and not as men's property, we women turn around and claim our children as property, with full rights to dispose of them if we "choose" to. The hypocrisy is incredible. Who told us the lie that we had to be slave-owners in order not to be slaves?

Didn't men claim that their wives were "part of the household" and therefore their "private" property? Living in a house does not make you part of the house, whether it's made of wood or flesh. And saying it's ok to kill inside the womb but not outside it is like saying it's ok to kill in the kitchen but not the bedroom. What does location have to do with human rights? What does size have to do with human rights? And how does dependency or an immature level of mental development give people the right to poison or mangle you to death?

I am one month pregnant. I carry the child within me, but I do not own the child's life. There are hardships ahead for me, but you don't make your life better by taking someone else's.

People moan about young girls' lives "ruined" by having babies. By that short-sighted logic, the slaves should never have been freed in America, because of all the slave-owners' lives that were "ruined" by it. Many slave-owning families suffered hardship after the emancipation. Does that mean that freeing the slaves was wrong? Of course not.

Pro-life is anti-slavery.

I love most of what Ron Paul has to say. But he is anti-choice on abortion. I could get behind him if he said "Let's work to make abortion obsolete." But I believe it is important to leave the ultimate choice up to the woman bearing the burden of it, and his view of putting the government in charge of women's bodies is not libertarian. I cannot in good conscience vote for him or any candidate who is anti-choice.

I've voted Libertarian most of my 40 voting years...and would gladly vote for Ron Paul... But, with no primary in Virginia, and a choice between McCain or the Democratic lot, what to do.......move to Canada....??!! Goodness, where did my country go...........
