If it did, you never truly had the condition in the first place. Now, don't get me wrong, we all need to deal with our issues to live a happy, emotionally balanced life and stress can contribute to poor health. However, stress is NEVER the only source of disease or conditions like fibromyalgia. Supporting such claims only empowers physicians who love to tell patients "it's all in your head" and then refer them to psychologists for treatment. I have a degree in Biological Health Sciences and am now finishing my doctorate in Molecular Biology. I plan on going to medical school following graduation because of my experience with this issue. I suffered for years at the hands of countless doctors from a misdiagnosed endocrine disorder which manifested first as hypothyroidism and crippling chronic fatigue before age 19. By age 26 I had osteoporosis, debilitating insomnia, and fibromyalgia. I was 29 before a very astute NP thought to check my hormones (saliva/urine/blood)...which of course were comparable to a post-menopausal woman in her 70's. With the help of numerous bio-identicals I have improved. I eat a gluten-free diet, using only organic fruits/veggies, with limited amounts of organic grassfed meats and raw cheese. My diet is rich in essential fatty acids and I take care to cook my food on low heat to avoid oxidation or I eat it raw. I avoid soy, plastics, and other sources of xenoestrogens/phytoestrogens or hormonal disruption. I get plenty of exercise including yoga and pray/meditate daily. I avoid as many toxins as possible using only natural toothpaste, cosmetics, cleaners, mineral rich spring water, etc...I grew up in a wonderful family and have a life overflowing with love and support. No emotional or mental stress induced my disease. I truly believe environmental toxins are to blame and the birth control drug Depo-Provera. Be healthy and find a doctor who can help you.

It is true! And it is also true that there are many different triggers, it is very important to find out what exactly triggered it when you feel worse.

It is a horrible condition. EFT may be helpfull for some but it can make you feel worse.

I am coaching people with fybromialgia.

Here is a list of the things that help for almost every person with fybromialgia (no 2 people with fybromialgia are the same)

-evening primrose oil

-pycnogenol (the real french maritime pinebark extract- with trademark)

-phosphatidylserine

these will get the "fog" out of your brain

-oreganol

-chloroXygen

helps with candida & brings in more oxygen

-maca

helps to bring you in balance

Sleep is very important!

Diet is very important! no gluten, no diary, no sugar for at least 3 months

Some therapy to help you empty your mind (it is overflowing)

re: Fibromyalgia, Lyrica, and the New York Times

Okay, here goes another try-they keep taking my comments down. Hmmmmmm-afraid of TRUTH or afraid of competition Doc?

I've had fibromyalgia as long as I can remember. Probably since birth. I had an idyllic childhood, and am 25 years in to a happy marriage. What emotional baggage? We all have old issues, but blaming fibro on emotional baggage is the same as saying it's all in your head!!! This is a real illness with a real cause. Remember stomach-ulcers? For years blamed on stress. Now we know it's a bacterial infection. The docs who discovered this were not believed for well over a year; now it's standard, accepted medical fact.

Anyone with fibromyalgia seeking real, experienced, science-based relief may want to check in to www.fibromyalgiatreatment.com

and read the book; "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromyalgia" by Dr. R Paul St Amand.

Ignoring it, "counseling" it, hypnotizing it, medicating it, detoxing it away; none of these things work Because it's a real illness with a real cause. As someone who no longer suffers significant fibromyalgia symptoms (and I also almost killed myself over the pain!) I beg you to check out the above referenced website and book.

They are half-way through a 3 year genetic study. The results so far are verrrrry promising!

Remember; if the drug co's think there is no money in a cure or treatment, they bad-mouth it and absolutely will NOT spend $$ to research it. This genetic study is patient-funded! The treatment works!

I get regular chiropractic care. I love my chiropractors. They completely resolved my asthma!! And I am sure that it is helping with the fibro, though we haven't eliminated it yet. The most helpful thing I have found so far is the removal of High Fructose corn syrup. After about 3 months, my pain decreased dramatically! In spite of what the corn consortium says, it is not the same as sugar! I removed it completely from my diet and used only raw sugar, and that sparingly. And it made a huge difference. Thankfully, with the public awareness of how bad this additive (or should I say drug??) is for you, more and more companies are taking notice and removing it from their products.

I took control of my own health! I located an alternative doctor who provided alternative therapies. I was so overwhelmed by my profound healing I went to school to study alternative health. I now have my own small practice as a Holistic Health Practitioner and help others who are suffering with chronic illnesses. Drugs are NOT the answer! Drugs are contributing to the underlying issue. Taking control of your health is a journey that requires dedication. You have to be willing to change your lifestyle and mindset. Never give up HOPE and remember to ALWAYS BE KIND TO YOURSELF!! Blessings! PAM

I decided to take on the NEW right out of college doc thinking that he will have the best options hopefully with me having fibromyalgia. Well accoding to him he did. Put me on alot of drugs and basically tried to get me going with SSDI. Well for 5 years he didnt tell me about other options to help me such as pain clinic, internal medicine etc. Well needless to say I was pissed. I went and changed doctors. Went old school. My new doc we tried everything other than narcotics due to me having past alcohol and drug issues. Although I had to go back to using a narcotic patch that I change every 3 days, I went from the 5 years of not working and being in bed doing nothing, not being involved with my family, being sick and sore alot, in the hospital alot, to now I am regaining everything back and having my family again, getting a life together. I an getting my auto detailing business restarted again full time. As far as the Lyrica goes, my doc had tried that with me for 3 and a half weeks and it actually almost put me into comiting suicide seriously. Fortunately I had noticed what it was that caused me to change and I stopped it. But fibromyalgia is real but its how you want to deal with life and what you want out of it. I was taking about 28 pills a day including depression pills too gained about 100 pounds felt and looked bad so I started all over and dropped some pills and planned to renew my life. I got control of me. Best thing I ever did. My mother has the same thing and she cries about it and takes all the meds and cannot deal with any pain. There is way too many things in life to live for. So I want to be out there catching those fish with my grandchildren and if I am on SSDI I sure cannot be sitting in my boat collecting a check from the government and fishing too. If I can fish, I can work! I love life! It is a gift given to me. Thanks! Dave

Fibromyaligia is REAL. Did it ever occur to the medical establishment the reason we have a lower tolerance for pain is because we are in constant pain and the smallest addition to that pain is often overwhelming. As a point of interest I have extremely debilitating fibromyalgia. I also have vitialigo, and an under active thryoid. When you see my white bloched face and body I am sure you will attribute that to my emoitional issues as well. It is disgusting to see the medical community dismiss a disease because they do not know how to handle it. I would also like to comment that though it is extremely difficult forme to even get dresses let alone perform most daily functions most take for granted. I am 53 I have a more than full-time sales position which involves driving throughout MIchigan and working with heavy complicated equipment. I also own and operate a full time retail bead store. Do I hurt? YES!! Am I often exhausted? Yes But I know I do not look like, or move like most people my age. I also know I love my life and I am a very happy person after years of growth adjustment and professional theraphy I have no deep seated undiscovered emotional issues. I have a painful but surviable disorder. I also know that many people who suffer from vitilogo to the visible extent I do many times will not even leave the house let alone make public presentations. I refuse to be pushed aside or dismissed. I hurt, I hurt everyday but I muscle through. I will not be treated as though I am lazy, or emotionally maladjusted.

Diet doew help some but the flare ups are frequent and substantial. I have a sister with this that developed this after battling a shoulder injury at work that he company wouldn't allow enough time off from work to let it heatl properly. I have a friend with this that developed it after contracting limes desease. She ended up in a wheel-chair. MNy oldest daughterf 32 has this desease after a car accident. And my youngest daughter, 19 , has it the worst after an accident at a water park and months of abuse by a well meaning chiropractor. What I see that all these have in common is not emotionsl , but rather a physical injury. And in particular a injury that isn't allowed to heal properly or given time to let the body do what it is designed to do. It is designed to heal it self. Right now I have a shoulder injury from work. and the first thing the doctor and wormans comp did was send me to therapy the day after it happened. needless to say it has only gotten worse and hasn[t healed at all. now its surgery. funny how doctors are always trying to do what is best for us and yet all theese things like fibromyalgia, tendenitis, ect are running rampant. I think if we focus on somnehting mor than the money involved in everything maybe we could get somewhere.
