When I did a google search, i came up with plenty of articles stating the dangers of the UV exposure from tanning beds - one source estimated a 75% increase in skin cancer if tannng beds are used before 30 years of age. Can someone shed some light on this? How are the tanning beds that Mercola promote different to make them safe? Has it got to do with the type of ballasts used?

They don't know whether they use magnetic or electronic ballasts. I would assume they are magnetic, and that this is a typical response that people will get when calling tanning salons. Why do they use magnetic if electronic is more cost efficient?

Our tanning beds all use electronic ballasts. They are cheaper to run and work longer than the old magnetic types. Our beds have a variety of UVA to UVB ratios, running from 1% to 6% UVB (the remainder being UVA). If you would like the higher UVB beds, simply ask one of our employees and they'll be happy to direct you to a bed best suited to your needs.

I hope this has helped. Let me know if you need further information.

I'm also trying to find information on the amount of uvb rays the beds give off is this more dependent on the bulbs used by the salon?
