When they were babies she was told they would not make it to adulthood. They were thriving children with a zest for life and never sick. She gave them klotting factor, of course. However, in the early part of 1984, one week after giving them klotting factor from a recently opened box, she was "notified" by mail that she needed to return any opened and unopened klotting factor back to Wadley Blood Bank due to "possible" contamination and she would receive full replacements of opened and unopened bottles, at no charge to her. When her youngest son suffered a fracture to the arm, a couple of years later, they discovered he was infected with HIV. The other son was tested and he was also positive. There was a class action lawsuit that was paid to all persons involved in that "possibly contaminated" in the amount of about $110,000. each. They were 31 and 33 the year after the settlement. The youngest died that same year and the oldest died one year later , both of HIV related complications--not hemophilia, not AIDS. HIV attacks the immune system. The settlement didn't even begin to cover their hospital costs. How much money did Bayer make in the years prior?

Carlotta, it is my understanding you must get the HIV virus before getting AIDS, thus often called the AIDS virus.

On the one hand, you have articles on this site stating, and I believe rightly so, that HIV does not cause AIDS. But, here you claim that Bayer sold drugs with the "AIDS virus" (HIV), thus causing harm. Do you just report this stuff without understanding it?

Then there's the comment about hemophiliacs, "Although worldwide numbers are difficult to calculate, in Hong Kong and Taiwan alone, more than 100 hemophiliacs contracted HIV after using the medicine, and most have died." Well, hemophiliacs die everyday. This doesn't say they died of AIDS. They might have died from the AIDS treatment, or just because they had a severe blood disorder.

I am not used to such sloppy reporting on this site. You have so much good information -- how did you let this through?
