The article looks at five stories of RFID hacking, including a demonstration of how to steal someone

re: Your Privacy Can be Compromised With the Convenient New RFID Cards

It is not radio frequency per se that is dangerous, it is any and all electromagnetic radiation, from the motors and wiring in your home to x-rays.

Electromagmetic radiation does not come from a magnet or the earth's magnetic field because those are constant fields. But you do get dangerous radiation when the magnets are moving quickly and repetetively.

An electromagnetic radiation will disrupt every enzymatic process. In high dosage it can of course kill the cells, but at the very least they disrupt the enzymatic process. We are amazingly robust in terms of recovering when the radiation source is removed after only a short exposure, and very low dosage exposure is often being picked up by individual cells for only very short periods.

High energy radiation is different. Such as do not sit on a powerful electric motor. Do not expose yourself to having a high amperage AC welder cable running over your leg while the arc is going. Do not hang out close to a high wattage radio transmitter.

There are a lot of EM waves coming off your computer. You should have good shielding, but most importantly you should choose a computer that draws low wattage. It is possible to build a satisfactory computer that draws less than 5 watts. And you will find that many desktop computers have up to 450 watt power supplies.

450 watts is excessive EM radiation even when shielded.

We are getting too dependent on using radio frequencies and it is threatening our health. Years ago when I worked with some guys in the radio shop I was told," They don't know what rf will do to you so take all the precautions and avoid exposure." RFID tags are a bad idea just like cell phones, and all the other new wonderful gadgets that we use and abuse.
