I have tried and modified 'recipes' from many sources for the last 7-8 months. All ended up either 'watery' or tasting funny when I tried 'thickening' agents...(organic whatever). Here is what finally worked:

1 quart raw milk

1 packet 'Yo'gourmet' starter (buy at Whole Foods or on-line)

A 1 qt glass container (Mason jar type)

Bring milk to room temp

Put in double boiler

Empty starter packet into a cup

Bring milk to 112 degrees (gotta watch the thermometer)

Remove immediately

Pour milk into cup with starter...mix well

Pour rest of milk into quart jar...add the milk from the starter cup...mix .

Put lid on loosely

Place in oven, cover with towel

Turn on oven light

Leave for 24 hours.

Any questions: e-mail me at bamcp@aol.com

I worked on this for soooooo long. I'd just like to share.

As a Naturopath I have tried just about every probiotic supplement available with mixed results, the morning glass of whey is the best by a long shot.

I have never had an appetite in the morning and had to force myself to eat every single morning feeling nauseous as a result (I've been like this since childhood), since drinking the whey, I've started to feel hungry in the mornings and actually look forward to eating. Since I've been feeling so much better in the mornings I've been able to let go of my habitual morning cup of coffee, easily and painlessly, I just don't feel like drinking it anymore.

Go the homemade probiotic drinks!

Cheers,
