However, if we ignore that first sign and don't get into the sauna in time, I've found the best recipe for coughs and chest congestion is to:

- boil one cut up lemon with a large chunck of peeled ginger.

- simmer for about 20 minutes and sweeten if needed with some maple syrup

It's wonderfully comforting and the ginger not only helps loosen up your congestion, it keeps your stomach feeling good. Cheers.../Kim

Breathing correctly is important for good health. Your yoga instructor is right. I tell you what works for me.

Raw onions and raw garlic, but especially the onions. Puree in the blender, Cuisinart them, or just slice the onions and eat with your meals. Once you cook either garlic or onions, the volatile oils and mucous cutting elements are ineffective, as well as the anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties as well. It sounds funny, but "A raw onion a day, helps keep the doctor away," has some truth to it. Try it and after a few months, you'll feel the difference. No more colds or coughing.

Take away the fillers added to the pills and you get pure 100 percent pseudoephedrine, also known as crystal meth, a powerful highly addictive synthetic narcotic. So that's how Bigpharma makes its huge profits: selling narcotics with the blessing of the FDA.

The war on-drugs is nothing more than a war on the competition: BigPharma wants everybody to switch from cocaine and heroine to synthetic narcotics which they alone can produce and legalize. The colombian cartels take away profits from BigPharma, hence the "war-on-drugs".

Notice how drug addiction is "treated" with synthetic narcotics suchs as methadone ?

So called cough medicine produced by "Big Pharma" is a useful as utters on a bull. No substance. I say look for a natural means of dealing with the cough from colds. My Yoga instructor has always told me the best way to beat a cough from colds, is to learn how to breathe. She says 90% of the time we as humans do so incorrectly. Also the breathing exercises should be done in the fresh air. In turn the flem will not settle in ones lungs, and thus no cough. We only cough to remove the conjestion from our lungs, and if we breathe better to start with, there is little, or no congestion.

Sometimes my throat gets raspy and gurgles a lot when the drip gets active. This would turn into an upper respiratory infection were it not for Robitussin PE. (Guafinessein) (Spelling?) This cough medicine stops both the drip and the gurgles almost immediately, so I Never get the cold. That's important, because after a cold I cough for a month or more and I want to avoid that like the plague it is.

So study away, but bear in mind that most studies are either flawed, biased or both. If OTCs work for you why should you listen to anybody who claims they don't work? Be a people, not a sheeple.
