1. Life has meaning in relationships and service to others.

Your happiness comes from loving the family and friends in your circle of life, and being useful to them, without wanting back, or expecting a "Thank you, Masked Man".

2. If you want to be truly happy, watch children and animals and do what they do.

I have seen kids dying in cancer wards who were happy, kids in third world nightmare pits who were happy, and kids in insane poverty who were happy.

Animals also seem to be able to be happy with their masters even when the animals are dying, or the pets are in the third world or even in poverty and want.

What do these children and animals do. They live in the moment, and appreciate what good comes their way, even if it is the kind hand of an adult patting their head when they feel bad, or a treat given to them by a visiting tourist.

3. Remember the times in your life when you were happy, even if you have to go back past kindergarten to do it. If you change your behavior to match what you were doing to be happy early on, you may be happy now.

4. Remember who you are.

As a creation of God, you were special enough for God to fill a planet with beauty, just so you could look at it, yawn boredly and ask what is for dinner; or glance at it quick, like tourists at the Grand Canyon, take a picture, and rush to the next destination.

5. Remember what God has done for you.

Even if you have not had your life filled with miracles, luck and joyful circumstance, you at least had a Messiah from God stretch out his arms for you very, very wide, say basically

"I love you this much, child." and die for you.

6. Remember to take your lithium and supplements if you need them to keep your chemistry balanced, and your mind right.

7. Change your perspective on your life, and see yourself from another angle. If you travel to hard and bad places, in you will be how blessed you are.

I have found that when when I am wanting then I am either living in past or the future and not enjoying the present moment. Afterall that is all there is, this moment and every moment is a new reality. Be in this moment fully and there will be a lot more gratitude, love and happiness.

I heard a great free interview on the internet this evening and it was with Virginia Lloyd, the woman who developed the Releasing process in Sedona. I think it is called effortless Releasing and it involves letting go of unwanted feelings. Most people think they have to hold on to their feelings and that they are their feelings. When we realize that our feelings are not who we are then we can recognize that we can let them go and just be happy in the moment in spite of anything.

The website for the free Valentines Day interview between Jeannie Fitzsimmons (move over Barbara and Oprah) and Virginia Lloyd, developer of the Sedona Method in the Seventies and Eighties is; www.effortlessreleasing.com . I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Be Happy Now, There is No Later. : )

It's time people started taking genuine depression seriously and not just dismissing sufferers as a bunch of misery gutses who need to stop dwelling on the negative.
