I know that is what I have traditionally been exposed to. I have noticed very clearly that if I do not drink at least 1 litre of water (I usually try to have 2 L) that I would develop a cough and flem buildup. All of my foreign co-workers have coughs and are chronically sick even to the point of bronchitis on occasions. I try to logically tell them that they need to drink a load of water to dilute and wash out all the pollution out of their systems before they run to the doctor for antibiotics. (Korea often only gives a 3 day dose!! Not enough to do anything but build resistance to it) They always agree with me but of course the only thing I ever see any of them drink is coffee, Coke zero or the fruit drink that we get in our cafeteria. I have had brief bouts of respiratory effects but all have been minor and cleared up fast. I attribute that to the only thing I drink is water (unfortunately I must rely on bottled for the most part) , green tea and occasionally a beer or glass of wine. Raw veggies and yoga every day too.
