The study involved 52 patients with active lupus who were followed for a six-month period. It's a large list of 2,000 and the moderator is a patient and friend of Dr. Brownstein, the leading thyroid/iodine expert in the country. People with hyper, hypo, hashimotos, and thyroid cancer are getting well with his protocol. His book, Iodine, Why You Need It, is wonderful. A good naturopath or Herbalist would be helpful as well. Good luck!

This was after suffering for over 36 years with arthritis. I've been arthritis-free for 8-9 years now. I now have lupus. The trouble is 1 to 3 gellcaps of Omega-3 fish oil daily does nothing to allieviate my symptoms. I would like to know how much can I take, and will more help me become symptom-free, or at least lessen the symptoms? After starting on Alpha Lipoic Acid for a few weeks, my bursitis vanished, except for a small amount in my left shoulder. Before, the bursitis struck me in the hips area, and I could barely walk. Now I could probably run, but I will start my daily walks again now that I can move pain free! I eat very little fish, though I love seafood. I will have a tiny portion of salmon now and then. My thyroid condition is such (hyper-thyroid) that I'm afraid to eat too much because of the iodine. I find soymilk diminishes my thyroid problem greatly! But you say soy is dangerous (phooey!). Doctor has recommended me getting the I-131 treatment. I refused the first time. If I cannot drink the soymilk to keep my thyroid under control, then I have no other choice, that I know of. So back to the basic question, how much Omega-3 (mercury free!) supplementation would be good for someone with lupus?
