Then I also read about Apple Cider Vinegar, and took a large spoonful every day for 4 - 5 days. Gerd gone! Now I need the vinegar maybe every 10 - 12 weeks when I feel a mild twinge. What a difference it made to my life.

No rebound effects at all. And i was literally on my deathbed at the time from the severity. As an added bonus my CFS/MCS/Sjogrens Disease symptoms began to clear up too. It's been over a year now and no acid reflux at all and these other symptoms continue to get better.

The logic is so simple in hindsight - if heartburn/reflux was caused by too much acid, then taking extra betaine HCL would make it worse, not better. If too much acid causes heartburn/reflux, then why do people with really good digestion also get it if they stuff themselves with a huge meal of junk food? Why would their body all of a sudden just make too much acid to digest the food? Too much acid would simply digest the food quicker, and not keep it sitting there undigested.

You do not need a degree in chemical engineering or medical research to understand this or observe this, it's simple physics, but doctors told me i didn't know what i was talking about and that that was not how the body worked. Even though they insisted i would need to be on these drugs for the rest of my life and most of their patients do too, despite my improvement!

But then again what do i know - i don't have a billion dollar drug company feeding me the real 'science' through it's info packs and all expenses paid 'seminars' at glamorous beach locations and it's pharma reps paying for concert tickets, corporate box seats at the football or bonuses for meeting prescription targets etc. They can't patent Betaine HCL or digestive enzymes because they are naturally-derived, so they're not going to bother making them when they can profit so much from drugs like Nexium which used to cost me $60 Australian per month - more than my all my utilities expenses combined.
