Does that mean that the enzymes that break complete proteins down into component amino acids can&amp;#39;t do their jobs? Whole protein molecules, as you should know, are not absorbed into the blood system through the intestinal walls. The amino acids making up the protein must have their bonds severed by enzymatic action. Then the amino acids are small enough to be transported through the intestinal walls to the blood system where they circulate until needed by various cells for specific protein synsthesis.&lt;/p&gt;
