Yes, I saw Dr. St. Amand for two or three years. The guaifenesin treatment worked for me but I understand it does not work for everyone.

Unfortunately I developed other symptoms that were so severe - I had to turn my attention to them. Bleeding gums, loose teeth, genital

herpes for the first time ever - even tho I had not had sex for more than 10 years - unbelievable pain in both hands and feet - and on and on.

Dr. St. Amand said - no, this is not fibromyalgia. There was a brief time when it appeared to be rheumatoid arthritis. I saw Dr. David Allen, Susanne Somers doctor, and after mucho testing he said - no, the problem is that your adrenal gland is shot, along with your thyroid, and your pututiary (?) isn't so hot either.

Currently I am with Dr. John Wilson of Asheville, NC. He was recommended by Dr. Allen when I left CA for VA. I am now on an incredible amount of supplements. Slowly slowly I am getting better. My hope is that I can go back on guai when I feel ready to endure the early part of the guai. If you are reading the book, you know that guai pulls phosphorus out of your cells and it is not for sissies. However, a couple of months into the program and I starting having good days. I also saw others in his office who were improving.

My first symptoms of fibro showed up when I was nine so I believe the "emotional" cause is crap. Every word in Dr. Amand's book rang true to me...it has a genetic base. I have two cousins on my dad's side with fibro. My dad's mother had rheumatism - which is what fibro was caused before it got named fibro... I also believe the cause of fibro can vary from person to person.

For anyone interested, Dr. Amand's website is www.fibromyalgiatreatment.com. He's in Marina Del Rey, CA.
