&lt;img src="http://articles.mercola.com/aggbug.aspx?PostID=215358" width="1" height="1"&gt;</description></item><item><title>re: JAMA Study Claims Chelation Therapy Does Not Benefit Heart</title><link>http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2002/02/06/chelation-therapy.aspx#38574</link><pubDate>Sun, 24 Aug 2008 08:16:42 GMT</pubDate><guid isPermaLink="false">24451277-a5aa-4add-96dc-64081bfd86fa:38574</guid><dc:creator>bald doc</dc:creator><description>&lt;p&gt;Oral chelation does remove heavy metals. &amp;nbsp;Only 4-8% of EDTA, the major chelator used for heavy metals and angina, is absorbed when taken orally. &amp;nbsp;It is not as potent, but is effective. &amp;nbsp;Intravenous EDTA is much more effective for removing toxic heavy metals. &amp;nbsp;It is presumed to be more effective for angina than oral chelation as well. &amp;nbsp;Some companies sell liquid edta for oral use, but there is no evidence that more of this is absorbed than that in pill form. &amp;nbsp;The short answer is, yes, it works. &amp;nbsp;The long answer is, yes it works, but... &amp;nbsp;It depends on what the use is for. &amp;nbsp;The biggest question is, how much money do you want to spend? &amp;nbsp;Oral chelation is much less expensive. &amp;nbsp;IV therapy generally costs $100 - $200 per session, and usually lasts for 30 sessions, with 10 or so follow up sessions per year as needed. &amp;nbsp;Time is also a factor as most treatments take 4 hours or so. &amp;nbsp;Generally, a practioner giving IV chelation will also give IV and oral minerals which add to cost and time commitments. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
