The bottom line would be that suntan salon exposure produces cell damage in the skin -- the

re: Tanning Beds Increase Cancer Threat

I am still on the fence about tanning. I want what Dr.Mecola says to be true but I am very fair skinned (blond hair, blue eyes, Irish decent) and although I can get a tan..it takes awhile. I also have more freckles and dark spots then when I was younger and I was told by my doctor that it is because of the sun.

I am thinking about buying Dr.Mercola's door tanning system because I know I am very Vit.D deficient...I live in Canada and even in the summer it isn't always sunny. I do not want more freckles and age spots though. Can anyone else comment about this? Any other fair skinned people out there use his tanning bed?

One final thought. What about those pictures you see of people from China, Mexico etc. who are in their senior years and are so wrinkled and leathery and spotted from the sun? They obviously never got skin cancer but the years of being in the sun never kept their skin youngish and supple. It looks like it did the opposite. Then there is my grandmother, in her 90's, who avoided the sun most of her adult life and never got skin cancer and also has pretty smooth, unwrinkled skin for someone her age. Maybe Dr.Mercola will comment.
