As of 2006, only six human trials have been published on Splenda (sucralose). Of these six trials, only two of the trials were completed and published before the FDA approved sucralose for human consumption

re: The Potential Dangers of Sucralose (Splenda)

Does anybody keep up wth research? There's been several studies on Splenda. An Australian study found some side effects, but it took the equivalent of 4300 packs per day to cause the side effects. NO studies found Splenda to be harmful when taken in reasonable dosages.

When they did the autospy they found that her stomach and her intestines were full of artificial sweetener. It was caked in her intestines and stomach. A large amount never digested or metabolized into her system. I'm not sure what caused her cancer, but I have been aware of the dangers of artificial sugar since I was a child, in the 70's. If it is not a natural food source, I don't put it in my body or the bodies of my children. I believe that natural foods (preferably organic) are the safest, and the best for you. It's bad enough that all the foods we buy these days are full of preservatives, dyes and chemicals...if you KNOW something isn't from nature, like Spleda (which advertises that it's only half natural yet BETTER) , then why would you consume it, or worse yet, give it to your children, who trust and depend on you? I've seen commercials where parents make thier childrens' soft drinks with this product. Then I have seen parents actually give this to thier children, in everything they bake and thier soft drinks, like they were brainwashed or something. These advertisments fool parents into thinking this is the best thing you can do for your children, and themselves, when natural foods are the best foods you can give to your children. This is the power these ad executives have over our minds...they have convinced parents that these chemicals are better for our children than all natural foods..now THAT'S power! Just something to think about..

I would like to make my own icecream but have not as yet found a way to do so without sugar. Artificial sweeteners are dangerous and I cannot stand the taste of Stevia. I desperately miss chocolate icecream. Any tips?
