Study results suggest that injections of the local anesthetic lidocaine, both into the ear and intravenously, may help the problem in most patients. His ringing is very loud.

Jim has told me many times that any medicine he takes will affect the ringing in his ears but that he has to take a pill to be able to sleep at night.

Jim had his Vit. D levels checked and they were low. He has begun taking cod liver oil for the D.

In order to take the cod liver oil, he had to cut out his sleeping pills. He said that the ringing went off the charts even at that but he is going to continue taking the cod liver oil and live with out sleeping well in order to get his D levels up.

Jim thinks that maybe raising his D levels will help his tennitus but knows that it will at the very least help his general health.

I asked him why a cod liver oil pill would cause his ringing to increase when eating fish does not. What about the chemicals one ingests by eating processed foods?

He does not know the why of it.

I am wondering how this info may help other who have tennitus and those who study the disease.

Jim has tried everything he has heard of to cure himself but without any good results thus far. The best things were those that helped him control his nerves.

I would like to hear from anyone who has any thoughts on this problem at all.

We have to find a cure for it.

Thank you

I have tried many ways to remedy the problem but I have yet to found anything that even has an effect on the ringing. I have it and am waiting for a real cure or aid. If injections of the local anesthetic lidocaine, either into the ear or intravenously, did any good, we would see at least one definitive statement from someone that it really worked. It would also be in the news. The only relief I've found is white noise to help me sleep.

Constant exposure to loud noise in a factory, the high speed drills dentists use on a daily basis, explosions, and exposure to firearms, motorcycles,, atv's, loud music, ipods, etc., to name a few.

If you want to know more about tinnitus go to:

"The American Tinnitus Association" www.ata.org .

I've had constant tinnitus in my left ear since July of 1991. It was caused by "acoustic trauma", an M-60 machine gun was accidentally fired with 12 inches of my left ear, about 12 rounds were fired in less than a 10 seconds. I ws not wearing any hearing protection because we had been ordered 'not' to fire our weapons. The accident ended my career.

I also have severe anxiety, major depression, and am permanently disabled.

According to the ATA bibliography there has been documented medical evidence (medical studies) of a connection between Tinnitus, Anxiety, and Depression, and that 60% or more people who have severe tinnitus also have major depression and anxiety, since the 1960's! Additionally, tinnitus, anxiety, and depression all aggravate each other in a vicious circle.

Unfortunately most Dr's don't know this and tell their patients to "learn to live with it", the tinnitus.

Tinnitus "Masker's" are an option for some people. They produce white noise that is supposed to netralize the tinnitus, but not with everyone. I happen to be one of those for whom the tinnitus masker does not work.

Hearing loss is also common with tinnitus. I have a loss at 5,000 Hz in my left ear. It was pretty scary the first time my Dr. put a ringing tuning fork next to my left ear and I couldn't hear it, although I heard it in my right ear.

I've tried medications, vitamins, supplements, counseling, and meditation. The only thing that has helped is mindfulness meditation.

Check out

As "jurplesman" shared in his entry, he is kind of on the right track, As w/many, if not all ailments - there are many factors that lead to metabolic disruptors, B vit's are a big factor altho a shot from your Dr may be consuming synthetic forms of the b's line. Additives, nano, GMO, enrichments in consumables are part of the health issues being manifested in this world. B vit's in general, Omega 3, and synergetic compounds are in need of being balanced out. I personally believe that the ringing is a sign of an existing problem getting to the point where nerve damage may be starting form said imbalances. If other parts of your body could “hear” the nerves may ring there also. It may be matter of time b4 possible nerve damage thought out the body may take substantial more damage b4 they are manifested in various forms. May I suggest, said issues be address NOW b4 additional bodily alarms ring. Giving the Dr more reasons to recommended additional shots, keeping yet another life form in the “system” loop making companies more $$$.

Dr’s make no $$$ off healthy pll. THEORY - I can guaranty that headaches are not caused from an aspirin deficiency.

Muncie was still around. He was an osteopathic physician at the height of his popularity in the 20's and 30's who discovered the means of curing certain types of deafness and tinnitus via his "finger surgery". He went on to world renowned success holding clinics in Europe and many cities in America....he helped thousands of people including curing my sister of deafness and helping arrest my father's deafness. He had a son, Douglas Muncie who was based in Florida but has since passed away, so the technique died with them. I do have his booklet though which describes the technique and the way he discovered it. Very interesting!

I wish that there were some doctor - Dr. Mercola are you listening? - who could resurrect this marvelous technique and therefore hope for hearing for millions afflicted with hearing loss!

Normally such events would last a few hours but this one has stayed with me since that day.

I don't try to do anything now about it as it is fairly pointless, I simply accept it. The ONLY thing that really irritates me is when someone tells me that meditation will help... "Start by clearing your mind!" YOU TRY DOING THAT WITH ALARM BELLS RINGING IN YOUR HEAD!!!

Get over it, accept it, we have tried most things except drugs and so-called experts and salesmen who are only interested in emptying your wallet, not your head of noise.
