I began at 25mg but decreased to half that dose. When I decided I no longer wanted to take Toprol and stopped taking it, I had rebound tachycardia and arrhythmias for a few days and then it stopped and my heart returned to its normal rate. Beta blockers make you more tired too.

I am a practitioner of something called, "B.E.S.T. (bio-energetics synchronization technique)" in Amesbury, MA. I applaud you for your determination to get off your heart meds and doing it with care. I have gone through this process of BEST myself and am amazed at what is a condition versus what is an unresolved emotional issue. Many times the issue can be something you're not even aware of--a trauma caused at a young age that has caused an interference in healing energy in your body or it can be from other generations! That may sound really weird, but it has proven itself through this work. I am currently working with my mother in law, who has had high blood pressure and arythmia for years. I'm watching her get freed up from energy that isn't hers!! Her family had lots of tragedy before she was born and that energy has affected her heatlh as well. Of course there are other factors, which have everything to do with exercise, diet, breathing, water, etc., but the goal is to eliminate all the possibilities. If you can find a B.E.S.T. practitioner in your area, it will help you to achieve your goals. I am working with serious illnesses like lyme disease, cancer, chronic fatigue, anxiety, depression, and so many others. They're all improving greatly! If this country would embrace alternative methods to be the answer to many illnesses, we would see our people get healthier and suffer less. Best blessings to you!

I was taking the highest dose of 100 mg before I was having so many strong skipped beats that I was at my utmost end and actualy lowered the dose within a years time (gradualy and under a Doc's care) and am now down to 25 mg a day, and I attribute this to having the willpower and telling myself I can try to get off this junk, and when I exercise I feel better too.

I was at one time diagnosed as having a heart murmur as well as mitral valve prolapse, and the last time I seen my cardiologist and had an echo done, they were undetectable.

I would love to be completely off the drug but when I try to go lower than 25 mg a day my heart beats faster and I get more skipped beats.

I was diagnosed by an MD through tests that I have PVC's and PAC's, so I would love to overcome these some day.
