I cant believe how programmed you guys are except, for the vegan lady with two boys. She is the only one who makes sense. DO SOME RESEARCH before you comment on something you dont know anything about. Its the soy MONSANTO created GMO(ROUND UP READY SOY). Organic soy has no effect whatsoever on male hormones and the plant based phytoestrogens actually protect against the synthetic forms that cause breast cancer and prostate cancer etc. Look at people in japan they are not walking around with man boobs and they consume gmo free soy eveyday. Healthy eating starts with a gmo free diet. www.seedsofdeception.com/.../index.cfm www.cancerproject.org/.../soy.php

This article should be about avoiding soy in any greater amounts than you would use condiments, not about vegetarianism or veganism. Granted, if you do not have a thorough knowledge of how to correct some of the inherent dangers of vegetarianism/veganism, you should slow down in your transition so that you have plenty of time to educate yourself.

However, saying that humans require a meat-based diet (as one comment stated) is preposterous. Any nutrients humanity needs which is provided in meat or meat by-products is available in a large variety or vegetation. My CAT requires a nutrient in meat not easily found in other sources, not me. Even my dogs do not require a meat source for their nutritional needs; only my cat.

What is needed today? We need to have a strong desire to educate ourselves and to correct ourselves during our education.

If you are sick and weak on a vegetarian or vegan diet, you need to resolve what your nutritional deficiencies are. Meat is the easy way out, it's not the only way out.

I have 2 healthy boys (9 and 11 years old) who both are both vegan and in accelerated learning programs and have never had common childhood illnesses such as ear infections. I am currently 8 months pregnant with another boy. I believe this article is VERY misleading. My husband is also vegan, both of us pay very close attention to what we put in our bodies, and consider ourselves to be a lot healthier than most, especially vegetarians. We eat only organic soy products, and we eat them on a daily basis, we have had no adverse effects what-so-ever. All of my babies have been 7+ pounds and born healthy and happy. A closely monitored vegan diet is SO much healthier than eating animals. I do not have to worry about my children developing childhood obesity or diabetes.

Most meats contain high levels of animal growth hormones, as does dairy. Those hormones are not even natural for the animals ingesting them, much less the children and people eating the "chemically infected" meat and dairy. Not to mention all of the toxins fed to the animals that concentrate in their muscle tissue that is then ingested by people. That contributes to why young girls now have breast at age 9, as do some BOYS. Fish is horrible for you because contains very high levels of mercury.

I wonder if this is sponsored by the dairy/cattle industry or something.

We did have to have an emergency C section...my bones wouldn't open, even though I dialated and labored normally. I now believe it was caused from vit D deficiency. When my baby was about 4 yrs I found the truth about how dangerous vegan diets are....that there are no surviving 3rd generation vegans, it is a modern fad diet! A dangerous experiment on ourselves, and our children ! (I felt after 13 yrs vegan, and my health was crumbling, that I had been in the grips of an eating disorder. I had craved chicken for 6 yrs, even during my pregnancy and could not eat it , we were sick alot and weak, irritable, etc) I immediately took us off of a vegan diet and we began a traditional whole foods diet. I owe alot to the Weston A Price Foundation (www.westonaprice.org) and their incredible teachings. Our health recovered, mental, physical and spiritual.
