He is out in the field with me when I pick up horse-muck and on one of those occasions one of my mares laid down for what I thought might have been a wee bit too long. she had devoured some crab apples a few minutes prior to laying down and I thought, she might have belly-ache. Anyhow, I did carry on collecting the inevitable, looking back at the mare and wondering when she would get up when Max made his way to her, standing in front of her until she rose! then he came trotting back to me.
