In fact, it's estimated that actual costs of smoking total nearly $40 a pack. This estimation includes all the factors associated with smoking, not just merely the

re: The Amazing, True Cost of Smoking

Nonsense. Born in '46. As a kid, along with many millions of others, walked through dept. and grocery stores filled with 'second-hand smoke. Sat in restaurants with even more smoke for hours on end. Arenas, community halls, you name it, all fully clogged with smoke. Lungs were no larger than your 'pinkie' through most of it. We all did not die of lung cancer. Virtually none died of lung cancer. How can this be ? Propaganda and hype by some 'snoot's' that do not like the aroma. It is all a lie. Look at the truth. Accept it.

if a smoker smokes outside as most "pariahs" are now made to, the toxic blah blah re furnishings becomes a zero factor. washing hands is a legit point i agree, but seriously in 80/% of homes the toxic cleaners and fabrics perfumes, melamine laced milk etc would be more likely to be around a baby of toddler for toxic ingestion from floor wherever. eg my neighbours bleach! every surface before the grandchild visits, the house smells like a swimming pool from chlorine, but gee it sure is sterile.!

in australia we pay tax! 50% of the price we pay is Supposed! to go to health care costs..does it? no it goes to "general revenue" so i do get very very cheesed off at the supposed cost inflicted on society that they quote...in truth smokers actually pay more for their contribution than is quoted for health fund fees. yet alcohol which i suspect kills more individuals, and causes accidents, family violence, is taxed much lower. go figure.

as for the non smokers and lung cancer...did anyone see the article on phosphates added to dairy, meat and other foods being a cause of lung cancer? maybe it is NOT just the smokers who need to be hassled,?? that cr*p is for bulking foods up, holding water in them for profit.
