I never liked it because it stung my tongue. But we didn't drink it the way people do now. Also, supersize was unheard of. We had six ounce glass bottles. And it had regular old sugar in it. This was after the days of cocaine cola. I never had that. People just have no restraint. I'd be happy if there were no sodas on the market. Wouldn't be missed.

It worked almost immediately. I was so relieved.
When my right foot was swollen two sizes and was very painful, my podiatrist immediately claimed it was the gout due to my "poor diet" and ordered tests. I didn't think eating mostly organic low fat vegetarian was a bad diet --I only ate three whole fruits per day and I was trying to exercise by continuing my eventual self-induced physical therapy and adding swimming to my regime.

Alas, it wasn't my diet. Plus, the tests were negative to my having the gout. Instead, tests revealed I had a developed a staph infection from a fungus, which became infected and worsened due to prostheses used in my body to replace an injured hip and knee.

I wonder how many of these "gout" cases are due to misdiagnosis on behalf of the physicians.

In fact, if you're going to drink a soda, it's better to drink a regular instead of a diet, the latter contains more poisions to the body.

Of course, to eliminate it them all is the best course!

Why water, because everything from breathing to digestion requires water. Circulation, joint flexability etc. nedds water. As for "Gout," start by breaking the habit of consuming junk fluids, especially so called soft drinks, and these energy drinks sap the body of fluid reserves, due to the high caffine content, not to mention high fructose cornsyrup, or one or more of the alchemists created sweetners.

If you suffer from gout, begin a habit of drinking cherry juice, daily, cherry juice not the cherry juice cocktails on grocer's shelves. The cherry juice will take care of the gout, but one's diet needs to be more closely monitored as well. Less flesh, more fruits and vegetables.

It takes time to adjust to a mainly fat and protein diet and it is unsociable as it cannot easily be followed outside of the home but whatever health problems one may have, while on this diet they will disappear and along with it the return of energy levels and that daily 'feel' good' factor. Anyone who has not experienced this diet for more than, at least, 6 months is not in the position to competently comment.

I gave up drinking sugary drinks well over 10 years ago simply as I did not like them but still suffered from gout and occasionally, severely. Eventually I discovered a connection between the amount of carbohydrates in my diet to the frequency and severity of the gout so today I have taken to heart the Atkin's style diet and since have had no recurrence. If carbs cause gout what other adverse affect does it have on the body? Undoubtedly the scientist will catch up with Joe Public within the next 10 years or so.

"Fruit juices are also often loaded with fructose, and if you still believe that this is an acceptable form of sugar, think again.

Fructose contains no beneficial enzymes, vitamins, minerals or accessory micro nutrients for you, and actually leeches them from your body. Unbound fructose, found in large quantities in HFCS, can interfere with your heart's use of vital minerals such as magnesium, copper and chromium.

Fructose also reduces the affinity of insulin for its receptor, which is the principle characteristic of type 2 diabetes."

Are we attacking High Fructose Corn Syrup here or Fructose????

While I agree that High Fructose Corn Syrup is not a healthy food, I do not agree with saying that fructose is not an acceptable form of sugar. Fructose, a natural sugar contained in whole fruit is as healthy a sugar as you can get. It all depends on where your source of it comes from and how refined it is. A person who eats many oranges, apples etc..is totally different from a person who drinks apple or orange juice that has been refined and processed (constituent nutrients have been altered or removed).

If I were a lay person reading this article I would be afraid of eating too much fruit because of the fructose in fruit. Fructose is good for you if you are getting it from whole and fresh. Lets keep it clear that fructose isn't bad in and of itself. Refined sugars in any form (including fructose, glucose etc...) are unhealthy.

Soft drinks are unhealthy in all doses. No one food is the cause of any disease. There are way too many factors to consider.

The degree of your health is directly proportionate to the degree that you follow the laws of nature. Wouldn't it be more productive having articles on how to create health rather than telling us how many things contribute to disease and how to treat them. Let us empower people to take care of themselves and focus on lifestyle factors that help them vector towards health.
