I understand about metal beds and being near electrical outlets, but what about sleeping on north facing magnetic mattress pads? Is this hazardous as well? I have read a lot of information about the benefits of this, but now question if this is true or not. Can someone please share studies on this as I have slept on a north facing magnetic mattress pad for years.

One thing that could be pointed out is "stand by" lights on anything.. anything with an LED read out emits some kind of disruptive radiation - even a cord phone with a digital readout screen in the unit. I've tested powerful stress effects from simple LED's to about 10 ft. This also includes digital clocks, even if they're battery (no digital watches!). If your kids have a CD/radio player in their room they should not only be unplugged, but placed as far as possible from the bed. Even turned off, the antenna in the radio will cause sleep disruption. (Not bad in waking hourse - affects us most in the delta sleep phase.) The worst are the "smart" clocks which set themselves - if they're digital they're that much worse.. They connect to a tower frequently with a radio signal to keep correct time or change the clock automatically for time changes, and this is highly disruptive. Get a basic no frills battery dial clock for your end table.

The brass bed has to go but in the meantime, pull it out 1 ft from the wall (an electrical field radiates approx 1' from the wires in the walls "coupling" with metal in the bed). No lamp cables closer than 1ft. Always have your bed out from the wall regardless, and especially never pushed into a corner. Radiators are very disruptive within 1 meter - I've seen a lot of parents put the baby's crib close the rad for warmth, but then the child can't sleep or is restless.

For hospital patients, usually their immune system is alreadycompromised and electrical fields add more stress. Intrestingly, silk provides a protective sheild against radiation. I just wrote a published article on this-if anyone wants it contact me at freehelp99@yahoo.com

I wouldnt suggest having any battery operated thing near your bed either. Ever since I moved my battery alarm clock onto my dresser instead of behind my head I've been sleeping a lot better. Also if you use a fan at night try not to use it anymore, or put it outside of the room behind the door. You can also take a strong magnet and put it onto electrical outlets or on a ceiling fan or other electrical things to cancel the EMF. Walking barefoot in the grass, putting your feet into cold water, or using Spruce on your feet will help to ground you.

My bed is literally my computer chair. I am that close and the CPU is just next to my head around 2 feet away. It is on a metal table. I have an external hard disk which is little close and it is in a shelf under the cpu.

I live in a small room around 10X10feet.approx

Am at a risk

Will sleeping away(5 feet away) help or should I sleep in a different room. (I keep my computer on the entire night).

Or should I shut down the computer as long as I am in the room.

This is freaking me out

We learn something useful every day! Actually, this is not really new (for me) but I guess we sometimes need to be reminded or given a nudge so I just went and disconnected my cordless phone that was in my bedroom, I realised I hardly use it so no need for it really, just left the main (wired) phone on in the living room and removed the cordless one. I can always go to the main phone if I want to use it. I also disconnected the night light that is built into my bed because again, I hardly use it so why keep it plugged in at all times. And a while ago, prompted by another article about cell phones, I decided to keep my wireless internet unplugged and only connect it if I want to use the internet on my pc at home (which I try to keep to a minimum anyway, I try to get all my internet and mail use while at work ... hopefully my bosses are not reading this?). I admit that I do leave my cell phone on even while sleeping but it is placed further away from my bed. I don't like to turn my cell phone off as there can always be an emergency/urgent call/whatever and then I cannot be reached. Also, I have an alarm clock by my bed that has those yellow lighted numbers and I like it that if I wake up during the night, I can see what time it is. So still working on that but hopefully the day will come when I can get myself to get rid of that one too.

Another aspect is that it is very important what you keep under your bed, preferably there should be nothing there that might interfere with the atmosphere, especially metal objects. I keep some clothes like socks and underwear in the built-in drawers under my mattress. Also, this might sound like fishy but I keep 9 pair of shoes under my bed in a certain pattern that someone taught me make a good environment for sleeping. Ok just forget about this one. But, it is very important what is under your bed, including what the people living in the apartment under yours keep there and we hardly have any control over that...
