Children with autism start talking later than other children and when they do speak, their communication</description><dc:language>en</dc:language><generator>CommunityServer 2008.5 SP1 (Build: 31106.3070)</generator><item><title>re: Autism May be Caused by an Immune System Response to a Virus</title><link>http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/01/02/autism-part-nine.aspx#186590</link><pubDate>Thu, 02 Apr 2009 20:21:37 GMT</pubDate><guid isPermaLink="false">24451277-a5aa-4add-96dc-64081bfd86fa:186590</guid><dc:creator>sksliver</dc:creator><description>&lt;p&gt;My son, Dow, who is now 22, became very sick when he was 4. &amp;nbsp;He had high fever &amp;amp; being on a Saturday of a wedding in our family, I gave him baby tylenol &amp;amp; his fever broke, but he was ill all day &amp;amp; couldn&amp;#39;t be the ring bearer in the wedding that day. &amp;nbsp;From that day on, he was very fearful of everything, had acute hearing &amp;amp; twirled his hands in the air, etc. &amp;nbsp;He went to special schools, learned to read in about 3rd grade. &amp;nbsp;He continued to be a loner &amp;amp; fearful &amp;amp; ate only 4 or 5 foods. &amp;nbsp;Then when he was 18, we heard of Dr. Kendall Stewart of Austin, Texas. &amp;nbsp;He diagnosed Dow with a neurosensory illness (like autism) &amp;amp; found that he had the herpes virus on the left &amp;amp; right linings of the brain. &amp;nbsp;This was blocking his messages to the brain. &amp;nbsp;Dr. Stewart treated Dow with Valtrex &amp;amp; within 2 weeks noticeable changes were seen. &amp;nbsp;Dr. Stewart had developed his own equipment to check balance &amp;amp; brain messages &amp;amp; hearing for his brain damaged patients in the Austin area. &amp;nbsp;When he tested 280+ Austistic children &amp;amp; found all had similar readings, he began working with Autistic children &amp;amp; adults &amp;amp; those with neuro sensory illnesses. &amp;nbsp; Dow was tested by Dr. Stewart on August, 2004 and again on Dec., 2004 and in June, 2005. &amp;nbsp;He had improved greatly. &amp;nbsp;He drives a car now, has completed his associates degree at Texas State Technical College, now is a junior at Abilene Christian University holding down a part time job. &amp;nbsp;He is sociable now, not fearful, eats everything, independent &amp;amp; has even stated 2 months after seeing Dr. Stewart in August of 2004, &amp;quot;wow, Mom, I have missed out on a lot of things.&amp;quot; &amp;nbsp;I highly encourage all the studies &amp;amp; research be done for autism in the area of the &amp;quot;herpes&amp;quot; virus. &amp;nbsp;My mother-in-law who kept Dow often had herpes sores often. &amp;nbsp;My older son had a learning problem in 1st grade &amp;amp; they said his &amp;quot;vestibular&amp;quot; was the problem. &amp;nbsp;He overcame it with physical therapy. &amp;nbsp;My sister-in-law has a daughter who&amp;#39;s oldest son, 5, has seizures &amp;amp; her sister has numerous problems.&lt;/p&gt;
