A relatively few number of cases are due to genetic causes, but officially the great majority are</description><dc:language>en</dc:language><generator>CommunityServer 2008.5 SP1 (Build: 31106.3070)</generator><item><title>re: Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR) Vaccine as a Potential         Cause of Encephalitis (Brain Inflammation) in Children</title><link>http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/01/02/mmr-vaccine-part-three.aspx#43023</link><pubDate>Sun, 27 Apr 2008 18:13:23 GMT</pubDate><guid isPermaLink="false">24451277-a5aa-4add-96dc-64081bfd86fa:43023</guid><dc:creator>ex-cfs</dc:creator><description>&lt;p&gt;These findings are interesting not only for autism, but also for chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and fibromyalgia. &amp;nbsp;Much anecdotal discussion has implicated measles vaccine as one possible trigger (though not the only one) for CFS. &amp;nbsp;One of the major dynamics of CFS has been found to be limbic dysfunction and possibly damage (see Jay Goldstein's work, for example). &amp;nbsp;About 30% - 40% with CFS also have vision problems, and measles is known to attack the eyes and cause blindness, at least temporarily as I recall from childhood stories. &amp;nbsp;Lastly, many with CFS though not all had mononucleosis (EBV) at/as onset, and this story mentions that measles hides in monocytes, so maybe there is some connection there too. &amp;nbsp;Lastly, multiple schlerosis involves demyelinization, and CFS in MRI images looks just like MS, though they are different diseases, with a test that can confirm whether you have MS. &amp;nbsp;I think I also heard some mention of demyelinization in fibromyalgia, which might account for the greater sensitivity to pain at the central perception level. &amp;nbsp;Lastly, there has also been some controversial mention of demyelinization, possibly from a vaccine adjuvant autoimmune reaction, with Gulf War Syndrome, which is also similar to CFS (see the book Vaccine A). &amp;nbsp;I do not know whether the affected veterans also had a measles vaccine as part of the many vaccines they got in a short period of time. &amp;nbsp;So, all this hints at a possible greater danger to the brain and nervous system from measles vaccines. &amp;nbsp;Someone should pursue pulling all this research together and doing a longitudinal pre- and post-measles vaccine study.&lt;/p&gt;
