However, researchers found that delaying surgery for chronic middle ear infection ('glue ear

re: Delayed Glue Ear Surgery Does Not Affect Speech

I wish my perents new this info when I was a child.I was born with an ear infection and lived with it for 10 years before it was cleared up. There were times when the pain was so bad that I cried for hours and mom didn't know what to do.

She took me to docters who said they didn't know what to do. This was back in 1954. I was raised on a farm till 10 and we were pretty much self sufficant. Dad raised all our own cows for milk and butter. Chickens for eggs and eating and he always had one cow to butcher in the fall. Mom kept a garden for fresh veggies.

So as kids we did have a good start in life. At 10 we moved to the okanagan (Penticton B.C. ).

Mom found a Dr. there that was able to clear up my ear infection. They had also discovered a hole in my ear drum so they said I would need an operation. Fist they said I would need my tonsils and adnoids taken out. That was done then I was sent to Vancouver for the ear operation but every time we got to the hospital the infection was back. We would go back home get the infection cleared up and then back to Van.

This happened 3 times before they figuard out that is was the altitude that was causing the reoccerance of the infection. On the 4th trip I used an ear plug going over the passes and was fine and got the op. done.

All the operation was fore was to patch a hole that developed in the ear drum. This was so I could retain what hearing that was left in that ear( about 20%). After that I had to wear an ear plug in that ear when ever I bathed or went swimming. The only time I would get an infection after that was when ever I would get a cold.

I have grand children now and most of them have gotten ear infections off and on. the one great thing now is we know more and through this owsom site we are better able to make informed dicissions about our health and what we should do.

Thank you DR. Mercola.
