My husband and I started trying to conceive a few months ago. I am 34 years of age. I do not have children yet. I wish I had done this testing sooner. I had asked one GYN to do the testing years ago and she didn't think I needed it. Women need to be more proactive about their medical care. If a doctor won't listen to what you want to have done, find another doctor. After I did some research, I asked my doctor to test my TSH level, FSH level, LH level, DHEA, and prolactin levels. The GYN found that my testosterone level was higher than it should be and she told me I have PCOS. I was just diagnosed a couple days ago, but I started doing more research. The GYN told me diet and exercise and also ordered an ultrasound. I have one small fibroid as well as PCOS. My periods were pretty regular and my blood pressure is good. I did not think that I was going to be diagnosed with PCOS, but I am glad that I found out. I am now taking a medication to shrink the cysts and my GYN also prescribed clomid to make me ovulate. I have started eating more leafy greens and blueberries as well as scaling way back on sugar, grains, pasta, bread, etc. I went to my family physician and asked for a prescription of metformin, a diabetes drug that has been shown to help pregnant women with PCOS have miscarriage rates in the normal range. Miscarriage rates for women with PCOS are very high unless they take Metformin. Metformin helps with insulin resistance.

I would love more info on the environmental factors you believe may be the cause for the PCOS. I truly believe that is the case...and this is the first article i've read that even addresses it!! thanks for putting this out there!

Price Foundation, and they will give you the information on their local raw milk clubs in your area. I buy 4 gallons of raw milk a month and store it in my refrigerator. Other great fats to eat are butter, you can also get raw butter from Weston A. Price ( www.westonaprice.org), and Palm oil. I get Palm oil from the African Market, I live near a lot of Afrikan's I cook with it and I put it on my dinner before I eat, Olive Oil is good on salads and other foods, but not to cook with. Lard is also good but not from any Supermarket, only from Weston A. Price. A great vitamin and mineral is Frontier Nutritional Yeast also from Radiant Life. I am sure that if you up your eating of the above oils you will be pregnant in six months to a year because these good fats make hormones in your body.

I've had irregular cycles my whole life and was put on Birth Control pills to regulate them. Now that I'm married I've tried almost a year to get pregnant and with no medication I don't have cycles at all. I've done LOTS of research and worked with an OB/GYN on the issue with no luck. Next week I will be seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist and this article has given me a lot to think about, and a number of questions to ask when I see the doctor.
