A truly balanced article would at least mention the thousands of children who have been saved by immunizations, and the virtual elimination of many life threatening diseases by the use of vaccines. I was born in 1947 when many of my friends developed polio and were crippled. One should spend some time in countries where children do not have access to vaccines and see them die from viruses like measles and chicken pox before advising people to avoid immunizations for their children.

Before my kids were born 18 years ago, I did my homework w/what little info was available. Mostly talked w/friends who hadn't vaccinated their healthy kids, and 7 doctors, who don't vaccinate their own kids nor recommend them to their patients even w/the state 'health' dept. breathing down their necks. Also spoke w/families whose children are vaccine-damaged or have died. Some of these families require 24/7 care for their kids and never go out in public w/them as they are too difficult to deal w/in public. This is why you seldom see vaccine brain-damaged kids in public places, so we think it's not as prevalent a problem as it is. However, ask any elementary school teacher and they will tell you how overwhelmed they are w/developmentally disabled kids.

Google search Harris Coulter, medical historian for his studies on social violence and educational failure caused by encephalitis (brain inflammation) caused by vaccine damage. He co-wrote 'A Shot in the Dark' w/Barbara Loe Fisher, founder of Nat'l Vaccine Info Center (www.nvic.org) which has very informative newsletters sent weekly via e-mail. You can sign up as a member. It's a great organization and a wonderful source of support for those who have vaccine questions or have had children damaged by vaccines. Also, Dr. Hugh Fudenberg has conducted a 10 year study on the link between 5 consecutive flu shots and developing Alzheimers.

So glad to hear people are FINALLY standing up for their rights and saying 'NO' to vaccines, despite our well-meaning relatives and friends. Our teens have never had shots and they rarely get sick, unless they eat junk food or don't get enough sleep and water. I'm still suffering from a set of shots in 1st grade (I'm 53) and have dealt w/asthma and allergies ever since. Never had one allergy or asthma prior to those shots. Almost died from the polio vaccine when I was a teen.

i just had a tetanus shot today. I got hurt at work..accidentally stuck myself with a sterile needle not the end..but the inside of a shot..where its like a spear ..where they had to make an incision to get it out. Im freaking out bc i am against vaccines..but had no say on this. What should i do ..hurry up and do a cleanse? HELP!!!

I have been a very healthy adult all my life & have maintained my ideal weight, etc.

After the birth of my 2nd child, doctors told me I needed to be vaccinated for rubella b/c a blood test showed low antibodies for rubella. I resisted, but a nurse told me that I was risking the health of my children if I didn't get the rubella vaccine. I reluctantly agreed & they gave me the vaccine.

Exactly 6 weeks after receiving the vaccine, I began to have joint pain, extreme fatigue, dizzy spells, changes in vision, horrible migraine headaches, clumsiness, short-term memory loss, loss of cognitive function (eg: I would go to pick something up & felt like my hand wasn't getting the signal from my brain to grasp the item.) My family doctor laughed when I told him I had found some info on the internet that this could all be linked to the rubella vaccine. He tested me for rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, did an MRI to check for lyme disease and signs of MS, but all tests were negative. The MRI showed a few spots on my brain but neurologist said it was normal for a 38yr old adult to have some tiny spots on the brain. It has now been 2 yrs & this thing I have has never gone away - it seems to get a little better for awhile, especially when I take cod liver oil, amino acids & flax seed oil, but then some weeks are terrible no matter what. I definately have suffered some type of serious brain damage. I am missing out on so much of my life.

I even went to a naturopathic doctor who didn't believe any of my symptoms could be linked to the rubella vaccine. He wanted me to pay $400 (on top of the $200 I paid to see him) to test my adrenal glands.

I am completely convinced that it was in fact the rubella vaccine & would very much appreciate any help, referral or advice on a doctor that will see me & really believe & listen to me. I live in Phoenix, AZ but would be willing to travel anywhere to see a doctor with any experience relating to this.

To the mom of a baby girl who wants to keep her "safe," I would suggest, at minimum, waiting until she is past the age of two before you begin to immunize, and then only give single shots with each visit. My youngest child, now 3, had very few vaccines before the age of two, in spite of my doctor's offices treating me like I was an idiot or a troublemaker. In fact, I took him a couple of months ago for another "set" to try to get him "caught up" (husband and I have agreed to give him SOME vaccines but not all) and one that they gave him was a "multi-pack" (more than one vaccine in a shot) that I wasn't aware of at the time. You have to be SO CAREFUL!!!! My experiences with six children, three of whom I selectively immunized, have been mostly medical professionals who think their intelligence and education makes their opinion ABOVE question, or vaccine administrators (nurses and office staff) who know far less than I do about vaccines because they haven't bothered to read since nursing school. Sheep. In spite of that, I actually had TWO doctors admit that the impetus behind Virginia making chicken pox vaccines a law was purely a financial one--tax base lost when parents had to stay home to tend sick children.

I followed the link to Dr. Blaylock's full article and read all of it. There was a comment towards the end that I have not been able to resolve. "The EPA component of fish oils (omega-3 oils) is also a powerful immune suppressant."

I was not aware of the immune suppressing action of this component of fish oil. It would almost infer that one should not take fish oil. Can anyone clarify this statement?

One of the things that many do not realize is that some vaccines contain human diploid cells cultured from aborted fetal tissue. Those of us who oppose abortion would like to see this come to the public's attention. Besides the obvious moral issue of abortion, what is going to happen when a baby is injected with cells from other humans? Cells from animals i.e. monkeys, chicken embryos etc.? And then all the other stuff in the vaccine soup...Oh, it is so sad. When I write letters to the editor on these issues, it is very hard to get them to print it and they delete the part about aborted fetal tissue. The medical community does a LOT of advertising in the paper so it is uphill all the way on this topic! One of my big natural health passions is to persuade people against vaccinations!

Bill # H.R.4169-S.R.22(Biochemical Warfare Act Bill was not signed in 1998 by Pres. sealed fate of millions)you can only find copy on law computer or fed gov. computer...This bill would have taken mercury out of vaccines.It stated that children,pregnant women ,elderly and soldiers would have neurological damage.The not signing of this bill prevented anyone in America from suing vaccine makers. If you can get a copy now..vital info is blacked out. I possess an original copy. Also there is no gov. mandate to keep high levels of mercury from creeping back into vaccines. Some were taken off market in 98..and shipped to 3rd world countries.Others were still on dr.s shelves and used. After reading many of the other comments, I would like to add that I, too, believe that the medical and pharmaceutical professions have been largely hijacked by big business to make money, rather than keep us well, or make us well when we are sick.

When the U.S. powers that be decided that manufacturing jobs needed to be outsourced and our economy turned into a "service economy" rather than one based on producing actual durable goods, we started slip-sliding into our current sad state of the nation. It's unlikely our economy or our health will ever recover.

After reading this article, I can see it's no coincidence that my 93 year old mother's good health is probably due to the fact that she's never taken flu shots due to egg allergy. Conversely, a younger friend of hers who faithfully got the flu shot every year succumbed to Alzheimer's in her late 70's. She had been displaying irritability and occasional bizarre behavior for years prior to her diagnosis.

At one time, doctors involved in developing vaccines would test them on themselves first - such was their dedication to do no harm to others. Now, we've devolved so greatly that clinical drug trials are often conducted outside the US on unsuspecting indigenous populations in countries that don't have the protections for human research subjects that we have. Not that our protections are enough - in the recent past, foster children were being experimented on in New York. And let's not forget the numerous prison inmates who were unwitting test subjects. See the website by the Alliance for Human Research Protection where the documented past and continuing abuses of human research subjects will make you question whether the research gains are worth the price exacted.

I have had 3 kids in school without shots. You can do it if you find the right form for your state and have it notorized. Then, you write your own form for whoever (pricipal, school nurse) is trying to PUSH the shots in order for your kids to go to school. This 2nd form holds them responsible for any side effects that may happen to the child for the rest of thier life, Of course they will not sign it. The paper I have for my kids works. My girls do not have shots. They are very happy, bright, and have shiny, intelligent eyes. They very rarely get sick. I see other kids, who are always sick, not too bright and have a dull look in the eyes. I think shots cause many problems, low immune system and the dumbing down of the brain. We have a choice on the care of our babies, but we may have to push, shove, and fight for it. The more we do, the better. When I started this 'no shots' 18 years ago, I got a lot of flack from people. I was a 'bad' parent for opting for a healthy child. I am so glad I stuck it out and did not cave to the sick system. These are my babies. You want to give a shot.....take it yourself or pump it into your own baby....and keep your laws off my body. Drs. are destroying the children in this country.

I just posted earlier re: the HIB vaccination. I have read all these tragic stories from parents re: their children. I can't imagine what they are going through, but I also wanted to offer that my daughter has received all her shots and vaccinations and is a bright, intelligent, social, healthy child, who rarely gets sick. Just wanted you to know that not all children who are vaccinated get asthma, autism, etc.

There is also now a genetic link scientists have found for austism on one of the chromosomes, which may explain why so many children in the same family have social disorders vs from vaccinations.

I almost died from Hemophilis Influenza B when I was 18 months old before the HIB vaccine came out. You can be sure that I my daughter received her HIB vaccine and all of hers. How I would regret not preventing a death just because there is inconclusive evidence on the side effects of vaccines. In fact, after California prohibited the use of vaccinations containing mercury, there has been no drop in austism rates, which surprised all the researchers that were convinced that mercury was the culprit. It is always good to check all sources of information to make well informed decisions and to look at the quality of research.

I agree with Dr. Mercola that our society is overmedicated and the healthcare does a lousy job with preventative medicine, but it doesn't undermine the benefits of medicine used appropriately.
