This goes for essential oils too. I've found a company that offers the purest (E.O.B.B.D. certified) oils and I'm thankful I was told about them since I like using essential oils.

I make all my own homemade laundry soap etc so this would be great. as for the vidka I can't use it HIGHLY allergic. I ended upin emergancy room due to it bing in a drink that I had. Oh I also saw the comment about the melaulka(i spelled that wrong), It is not 100% natural. But nieether is shaklee, herbalife and many others. there was a huge articl written about the truth of so called natural foods etc. I was pretty shocked. I have worked in this field for over four years and I still learn something new. But we turned our house into a green clean house with recycling, composting, and all homemade cleaners! We haven't felt this great in years!!!

I don't think I'd ever eat @ their house, or touch anything they touch.

The other one was worse. She didn't even use gloves or a toilet brush, just her bare hands and a little scrubby thing that she uses on her sink and bathtub. She's saying, "Well I guess I should use gloves, but the vinegar won't hurt my hands". Maybe someone should tell her that toilet water also permeates pores and she may get terribly sick (including a terrible rash) from this, as well.

No wonder people are dying from staph infections and salmonella poisoning. People need to use some common sense when cleaning: Don't Cross Contaminate! Use gloves. Keep them in the bathroom. Don't use the same gloves to clean/touch your kitchen and kitchen utensils. Wash your hands after you're done cleaning the bathroom. Don't stick your hands in the toilet water. You know, stuff like that.

I have since switched to all natural products such as the baking soda, vinegar, hydrogen peroxide and the alcohol. However, the video said that hydrogen peroxide will whiten clothes in the wash, which is something new I didn't know. Dr. Mercola, I just want to thank you for all that you do in helping to improve our lives and environment with your educaitonal materials and products. It is vital that we keep spreading your message along with other like minded health practioners. Keep up the incredible work you are doing. You are very much appreciated!!!

The MSDS on the same page indicate that the major ingredients include Sodium Laureth Sulfate and (Cocamide) MEA. This website contains scientific info on the health effects of these ingredients: www.lindachae.com/untouchables.htm

I used to use Ecover brand detergent several years ago until I learned about SLS and SLES and noticed that one of these was on the label (don't remember which one). Looking at http://www.ecover.com today, I don't see disclosure of ingredients or MSDS.

As U.S. consumers, we do not have the right to see the actual ingredients on the product. But, OSHA requires that this info is made available to employees in a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) on request. Therefore, I recommend requesting an MSDS for any chemical that comes in contact with the body (including automatic dish washing detergent that leaves a residue that we eat and laundry detergent that leaves a residue that absorbs into the skin). The manufacturer legally must comply if the product is sold to companies with employees.

Once you have the ingredients from the MSDS, look them up at www.lindachae.com/untouchables.htm or www.cdc.gov/.../neng0000.html to decide for yourself if they are safe for you. As consumers living in an industrialized society, it is worth learning about these chemical ingredients all around us. Survival means learning to read labels like a lawyer and hunting down those MSDS.

Seven months ago I changed my life, I quit smoking, I stopped using all household chemicles, stopped using all beauty products, stopped eating 99% boxed and processed foods, began to recycle...the list goes on and on. I traded alot of my daily habits for healthier habits, traded a lot of products for organic or natural products or committed myself to finding natural and organic items that I need. I am amazed at how much my life has changed and sometimes, if i allow myself to be, overwhelmed at how much I still need to learn. However, it's one day at a time and when my husband's daughter sent us this video with Jeanne McLaughlin, it felt good. I already do most of the things she suggested and also learned a few better choices - like the baking soda and apple cider vinegar trick...I love that and plan to use it in my bath soon. Too, I've been using Chlorine bleach sparingly because I couldn't find a better way to whiten my clothes...but in this video she suggests using Hydorgen Peroxide, of which I plan to do in my next load of whites. I'm a cashier at Walmart and noticed that since I changed my whole lifestyle, it's seriously very hard for me to be a chasier with all these toxic chemicles passing through my hands. I find that my sence of smell is very strong and especially with dryer sheets...egads! Anyway...I use liquid Castille soap to do my laundry with and to wash my hands. I also use it to clean my house with and did anyoone know that Liquid Castille is also very good for cleaning your fruits and vegi's? Most fruits and vegi's have a wax coating on them, which in itself is not a bad thing, but, the pesticides that were sprayed on that food and then the food having been covered with wax, caused the pesticieds to be cemented to the fruits. Wash your food! San

I admire your site, up to now you seem to have thoroughly investigated things before recommending them. In your message about clean homes you mention ECOVER products. There was a report recently in Sweden, unfortunately only in Swedish where the Swedish Water Authority is very critical and worried and say ECOVER results in really bad toxins entering the waterways. They say that ECOVER really do not have ECO credentials. ECOVER have been contacted by the Swedish authorities concerned about this pollution, they say that ECOVER is unresponsive, they have no intention of removing the toxins.

If you wish me to email you a copy of the report, in Swedish, please send me a message to

But, on the other hand, while some of our laws are still on the books, the re-written regulations under the Bush-Cheney Administration no longer protect workers rights. In fact, there are no longer any protections in the USA. The studies that were available to the general public in the various libraries at the US EPA are no longer available to the general public. They are only available to heads of various departments.

Magic Bill wrote: **The Emergency Planning & Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) provisions help increase the public's knowledge and access to information on chemicals at individual facilities, their uses, and releases into the environment. States and communities, working with facilities, can use the information to improve chemical safety and protect public health and the environment. Part of the Community Right to Know Act requires employers to issue Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to their employees. The MSDS sheets must be kept for each chemical stored at the facility, including "household" cleaners. The MSDS sheets outline the hazardous chemicals associated with the materials, proper handling, storage, etc. This is a Federal law.**

It may be a federal law, but the regulations have been rewritten that eliminate the public's right to know.
